Most people collect guns the way one collects...well anything they find interesting.

The last time I needed a gun was when someone ran up to my vehicke in a parking lot and started to try to smash my window. I looked on this as a carjacking in the making. Coukd have just been a crazy, or a druggie no matter what, I didn't wamt to ger covered in shartered glass.

Rather than run over them with my deadly weapon/vehicle, I pulled my .357 and pointed it at them. Since they were doing what could have been perceived as a carjacking, I would have been legally justified shooting them. Didn't have to - pointing did the trick.

And that is mostly the reality.....

Criminals don't have a death wish nor a desire to get hurt. They want your stuff. Show them a gun and they are more likely to get the hell away from you then you are to actually need to shoot them.

That's not even 1/6th of the size of my collection.

I keep that many at the beach house, which I only get away to three times a year.

Between Mrs. Storm and me, we have 15 in our cars or on our persons at any given time. Five each as part of our go-bags, three each in our bug-out bags, two carry weapons each and two or three car guns each.

Wonder what you'd call my big safe, and the roughly 100 firearms and 150,000 rounds (about a thousand rounds per firearm (much more of .223, 30-06, .45, .45 LR, .30, 9mm, 12 gauge and 10mm, of course; less of the more exotics)) it contains?

This is a pretty good breakdown. I don't think any massacre type thing was going to go down, and it's not surprising people were vigilant in pointing out a potential threat given what's prevalent on their minds. Hopefully this sorts itself out as it should.

Why ignore what I stated at the start; I carry all the time. I am never unarmed. I don't justify it by need. It's something I think no more about than I would whether I should wear shoes. I'm going to wear boots when the terrain is muddy and I'll carry an extra weapon when the people I expect to encounter are likewise.
