    Re: star trek:into darkness

It was awful. The fourth worst Star Trek movie (few of which have been any good anyway)

I don't expect J.J. Abrams to ever watch any movie I might make either.

    Fair is fair.

He definitely would not pay to see a movie by J.J. Abrams.

    Besides, I'm not Jesus.

He made a whip and ran the money changers out of the temple with apparently no small amount of violence.

    I've never done anything similar.

The most violent thing I've ever done was choke a shoplifter into unconsciousness. It was Texas and he was outside the store and I was following orders so it was allowed of course.

The more I read of this, the more I begin to doubt it. I'm sure it will be visually stunning with lots of gee-whiz action, but the descriptions of events that have leaked are leaving me underwhelmed. Underwater Enterprise? This has rankled fanboys for months, and while I'm not one to complain about "wrong font!!1" it does seem pretty stupid to me. Anyone reading the comic book prequel?

No I don't. I prefer simple intimidation and threats to actually using violence.

Violence should be minimal, infrequent, but effective.

Still a dumbshit idea, ranks right up there with Ewoks, and having the premise of ROTJ essentially mirror that of ANH, only with Lando getting the "money shot" instead of Luke. The world would have been better off if Lucas had gotten killed in a wreck after ESB was released, I think.

    Re: star trek:into darkness

Not Ewoks, not a rehash of ANH, and not Vader being turned towards the Light. I imagined that they'd kill Vader in some kind of lightsabre duel on Coruscant, the whole, "Luke, I'm your father" business would have turned out to be some kind of Jedi Mind Trick, and Leia would have given up on Han, married Luke, while Han, Chewie, and Lando went off on some kind of adventure.

^ Like ROTJ or not it's apart of the Official Canonuity of STAR WARS. Ditto (unfortunately) for TPM:( Likewise with Abrams' trek among the stars. That IS apart of STAR TREK's Official Canonuity:(

It's OK. You don't like ROTJ you don't like ROTJ! I don't like alien 3, yet it has its fans & likers:shrug:

Fine. Substitute "the capital of the Empire" for Coruscant. If you believe Lucas, then he'd already written the prequels by this point so they would have called it that.

    Tomato, tomahto.

So? This isn't a religion, if I reject one of the films, I'll not go to hell for it.

    See my above comment.

So does Justin Beiber and One Dimension, that's neither here nor there.

Forget Abrams. WILL Lindelof NOT firestorm this time? Strike One was "LOST". Strike Two was "Prometheus". WILL "Star Trek Into Darkness" be Strike Three?

They did - it was called Insurrection.

I still remember Stewart holding aloft the Best Actor Oscar whilst getting blown by Kevin Bacon, and I too sometimes wonder why never built upon the pure success that of that movie.

Insurrection as a "good" 2 part Star Trek episode?

    You've got to be kidding.

Insurrection would've been a "Times Arrow".

Not a "Best of Both Worlds".

    Re: star trek:into darkness

They blew shit up and a space WMD was used, frankly I'd have thought it was your ultimate trek wank fantasy?

INS was a good TNG episode, certainly on a par with BOBW, but a crap movie.

It had actual character moments for starters, albeit fairly clunky ones, but then it was targeted at Trek fans.

Best of Both Worlds was a terrible two parter, it essentially came down to Riker saying FIRE! And three months later a flag that said "bang" emerged from the deflector dish.

    Re: star trek:into darkness

    1) Stupid elements that were supposed to be humorous but were almost painful to watch (Data as a flotation device anyone).

    2) Yet another race that no one has ever heard of (and aside from an episode on DS9 in passing, never heard from again).

    3) Enterprise getting manhandled in combat....again.....while Riker is in command.....again (honestly, given his on screen performance as a combat commander, Riker should be thrown in the brig as soon as the Enterprise has to raise shields).

    4) Staggering plot holes. The "kids" that left the planet in the Briar Patch are the one who manage to create a formidably powerful society with huge warships and supertechnology?

    5) Love for Picard? Forget it. The female has absolutely nothing to suggest that Picard would trash his career for her.
