Yup, happened in the second explosion. It sounded like the most damage occurred in that height range (lots of stories about people's legs being blown off or filled with shrapnel too). His mother and younger sister are in critical condition as well. So sad.

the only speculation I have right now is that IF there were in fact devices that were not detonated, that speaks poorly of the skills of the attacker. That in itself might be a clue.

Still no leads? Any guesses as to what that apartment building they were at might have to do with anything?

And members of the child's family were seriously injured.

From what I've read, they found nothing at the apartment that would tie the occupant with the bombing and they are not treating him as a suspect. It was also apparently searched with the occupant's consent.

A close friend's cousin was in surgery last night from this. It seems these attacks get closer and closer to home from my point of view.

Bombers choose specific targets for a reason. This one choose to wait until well after the top runners had passed the finish line.

It is possible that because of the crowds he wasn't able to get into the area until later as well.

And since we don't yet know that reason (which makes sense to them, but not to us, which is what I meant by sanity/rational thought), there's no harm in spitballing about who his targets were and why.

It was highly publicized that the last mile of the marathon, the one which got bombed, was dedicated to the Sandy Hook students and several of the Sandy Hook family members were there to raise money to lobby for gun control. Yes, the political far right in America have demonized the shit out of the Sandy Hook families all while spinning vast stupid conspiracy theories that it was a false flag attack directed by Obama and that the Sandy Hook Families are lying about their children being murdered all so they can get Jethro's shotgun.

If people are crazy enough to believe nonsense conspiracy theories like that one, and we know there are millions of them in the US all on the political far right, then yes I could see one of them trying to attack a group helping the Sandy Hook families. Especially on tax day which is another thing which drives the far right in America to claim they're ready for violence and civil war. You see the gun nuts claiming that's what they want all the time especially when the NRA's La Pierre started claiming people need AR-15's to shoot at police and government agents.

Again, we don't know who actually did the bombing yet but don't for one second pretend there isn't all sorts of symbolism here which gets the violent right wing extremists in America into a lather.

And yet again, you spend fully two paragraphs SUGGESTING that the so called "far right" is behind the attacks but then try to immunize your inflammatory comments with "we don't know who actually did the bombing"
