You know, we make fun of this, but it's actually a healthy thing for CaptainX. He can't stand Star Trek, but desperately likes the idea of being a Trek nerd. So what does he do? He invents an imaginary Trek that conforms to his own ideas. So far, so good. But then he goes to an unhealthy place, in which he craves validation. He craves it to such extent that he needs the rest of us to prefer his Trek (XTrek) to real Trek. But we don't, because we all know that real Trek is better. And he can't stand it.

I think you're right. Having looked at his website, I can also understand why he lashes out so much. He craves that validation but never receives it, because no one visits his pathetic website or even cares about the sad little reality he's created for himself. Proof:

Nope. For me to write anything Star Trek, there's got to be something in it for me, and there just ain't. Between... what is it, 200+ TOS novels, the original series remastered for Blu-Ray and the TOS movies, I'm good. I don't need any more TOS, got plenty.

On this point, Dayton is a broken clock that's right twice a day. Movies like Transformers 2 made a shit ton of money, and it's not on very many people's list of best movies from whatever year it came out.
