So some fatass fuckhead thought it was okay to destroy a 200 millions year old formation. Hopefully he has his fatass thrown in jail.
yeah, I saw this story...I hope they fine the shit out of him and he isn't allowed anywhere near the scouts again. They are like the embodiment of every bad redneck stereotype.
They didn't destroy anything, since the Earth is only 6,000 years old. IN YOUR FACE fancy-schmantsy scientists/athiests!
While I hate anything being destroyed that other people find interesting or valuable. This was still just rocks. Not Mount Rushmore. If weathering or an earthquake had toppled it no one would be bitching about it.
You know that stereotype about midwesterners being dumber than a bag of hammers? This is where it comes from. Were these idiots chasing road runners earlier?
The funny part is, it's another example of lets do illegal stuff and shoot a video of it. That should be like hate crime laws and up the sentence for whatever you did...just because you were so stupid
Mount Rushmore is nothing but rocks some people find interesting or valuable. I don't think it really matters if someone destroys it as nature will eventually destroy it anyway.
Mount Rushmore is NOT "nothing but rocks". It is composed of rock but it is a sculpture that has been shaped by the hands and creativity of man. Those rocks in Utah or wherever are simply rocks. Interesting looking but no more special than the Great Lakes or the Pacific Ocean.
Mt Rushmore is a cartoon - a caricature, Clever engineering and took a lot less time then the natural magnificence you disparage
If it wasn't made by people like me, it's less valuable to me. I hardly see anything wrong with that.
Man chose to alter the landscape for his purpose, nature created the the monuments longer before man existed and they could have very well existed long after man ceased to exist. What gives man the right to destroy something that has existed far longer than he has? Mt. Rushmore is nothing more than an act of vandalism against nature.
Believe that if you wish. To me, mankind has dominion over the world and can ultimately do what he sees fit with it. Though I'm hopeful that man has enough innate respect for the wonders of nature to avoid unnecessary destruction, ultimately there is nothing sacred about them. In life, people matter. Not a precarious pile of weathered rocks. And, interaction with living creatures is as much a part of "nature's existence" as interaction with wind and rain.
Turns out the fat fuck had filed an injury lawsuit just last month. http://www.kutv.com/news/top-stories/stories/vid_7578.shtml?wap=0 Supposedly he has a debilitating back injury, so I'm sure he couldn't have climbed around those rocks or pushed them over.
Man has the responsibility to co-exist with nature, and to realize that if mankind wishes to continue that he must also respect nature for what it is. For everything that mankind has accomplished nature will always win. If you what you say is true "Though I'm hopeful that man has enough innate respect for the wonders of nature to avoid unnecessary destruction, ultimately there is nothing sacred about them.". Then mankind matters no more than a pile of rocks. Man came about because of nature less than 6 million years ago with the emergence of Hominini, and modern man came about 200,000 years ago. So for everything man has achieved it is nothing compared to what nature has achieved. Nature could destroy man and all the great accomplishments in far less time than nature will exist. In other words man is a little bit more than an interesting footnote. Interaction with wind and rain has rarely turned out well for man, hurricanes, tornadoes, drought, etc., have always won over time.
You all do know Dayton is a troll, right? I'm completely convinced he doesn't believe the shit he posts, it's just calculated to piss of the maximum number of peaople.
I would have never guessed that No, I'm sure he believes the stuff he posts; it's just a bonus that it'll troll the maximum number of people.
He is a troll, he's admitted that he wants to piss people off. But I do think he actually believes the shit he posts. He fucking Dayton after all, the guy who believes slapping his wife isn't a big deal. The guy who believes that when he nearly got shit canned it was him who kept his job, not the school forgetting a technicality.
Nope, I don't buy the he believes anything he posts. All of it is designed to be at odds with everyone.
