http://mobile.todayszaman.com/diplo...ejects-erdogans-citizenship-offer_398586.html The government of Turkey offers the father of the boy citizenship but he rejects it. Says he wants German citizenship. Gee, I thought he was a refugee who just wanted safety? I guess Turkey doesn't offer any welfare. No, really, it doesn't so his decision makes perfect sense for an economic migrant but zero if he were actually a refugee.
The Telegraph, the Guardian, and the Turkish Newspaper Zaman are all "right wing rags and blogs", eh? Jesus, man, your brain has fallen out of your head because they are all covering the details of this story. By tomorrow maybe even the newspaper in your backwoods part of Canada might actually start covering it too. Just because you dislike the facts that does not make them any less real.
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/49...-of-17-on-55k-benefits-AND-want-a-bigger-home Britain's dole is less generous than Germany or Sweden but it still seems like a dream to some. It is not just 3rd worlders either as Eastern Europeans economic migrants also love it. Such as this family of 17 from Romania who gets $80,000 a year in welfare benefits from the UK taxpayer but complain it isn't enough and demand someone give them a bigger house for free. To his credit the father does actually work making $2772 a month as an electrician. That is better than 4/5th of the muslims at least. BTW between the father's income of $33,000 a year and $80,000 a year in welfare that is $113,000 a year to live on but he says it is not enough and he should get more.
So you have positive proof, or even some tenuous scraps of evidence, that the dead boy's father wanted to immigrate to Germany solely for "a free ride", rather than, say, professional opportunities that weren't available to him in either Demascus or Turkey? Granted, that still makes him an economic migrant, but of a vastly different kind than you keep implying. There's a buttload of difference between "welfare" and "Better job prospects", eh? But you know for a fact it was the former and not the latter?
The Daily Express? I'm not all that up on UK media, but isn't that the newspaper that's even more right-wing, even more disreputable, and even more prone to just randomly making shit up than the Daily Mail?
You're behind on the times, friend. He previously claimed the Canadian government offered him citizenship as well, which he rejected, but the Canadian government denies it. Dude just lost his entire family. He's probably insane right now.
The Turkish Newspaper Zaman confirms that the President of Turkey offered him citizenship but that he declined it. The link is above.
I honestly don't know where the Daily Express stands on various topics left or right. It is obviously an extreme case, thus why it made the papers, but there are massive problems with public assistance in the UK and even bigger problems in places like Germany and Sweden. The truth is people can and do work the system and that seems the norm. Honestly, with the amounts of money being paid out that really is a huge attraction especially for a 3rd world economic migrant. To them it is just money from heaven.
That would be a major difference and yet it is strange he never once mentioned better job prospects or even working at all in all of the dozens of interviews he has had in the last few days. He did mention he wanted free dental care though and said that was a major factor in his decision. Funny that. He must have just over looked it, huh?
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/p...ys-life-to-get-dental-treatment-10490770.html That quotes the father saying free dental care was a major factor in his decision. No mention of better job prospects that I can see. Just a desire for free stuff. To bad his father, who is a well to do dentist, couldn't have fixed his teeth for him. Oh, wait, he could have.
Er, no. It desn't. It quotes Australian senator, Cory Bernardi of claiming that "the father of three-year-old Aylan Kurdi, who was pictured drowned on a beach off the coast of Turkey, had risked his own family’s life in order to “get dental treatment” in the West." The statement is corroborated in no way, and thus is little more than hearsay. The same article... the one you linked, goes on to say...
I know, right? Sokar was Asslight with more sincerity, but he liked to stir people up. Dinner OTOH is entirely 100 percent as real with his batshit lunacy as Dayton is...which makes this funnier.
The dental angle is from the Wall Street Journal, reporting an interview with the father's sister. Ms. Kurdi, speaking Thursday in a Vancouver suburb, said that their father, still in Syria, had suggested Abdullah go to Europe to get his damaged teeth fixed and find a way to help his family leave Turkey. She said she began wiring her brother money three weeks ago, in €1,000 ($1,100) amounts, to help pay for the trip.
His comments were based upon the father's comments in the media that he wanted free dental care. He said it, man. You asked for "even a tenuous scrap of evidence" and you got it. Don't hate the messenger refute the message.
No one, but you, said that. That said, risking everyone's life because you want free stuff doesn't sound so smart to me.
Yes, I am serious as shit when I say large number, probably the majority of them, are not actually refugees. They are simply opportunists hoping to capitalize on a bad situation for personal gain. That is God's honest truth. So I do take offense when arrogant bastards like 14D, who has been completely wrong on just about everything in this thread so far, tries to run his mouth ignoring that he has been completely wrong. It is so typical of him. For the record a guy who has been living in Turkey for years, who has a decent job, and who is making the median income is not a desperate refugee on fear of his life. By law, the refugee status treaties are supposed to be for desperate people who are in reasonable fear for their lives. Economic migrants have no legal right to enter where as refugees do. Thus it is key to determine whither or not people are genuine refugees.
Er, no, I didn't. He didn't say it. You can say he did all day, but that won't make it so. Someone in the comments section of the article you posted had this to say about an interview with the man's surviving family... No talk of getting it done free, merely that the money which had originally been provided by the man's dad, to pay for dental reconstruction, might be better spent getting to, and settling, someplace a little more safe and stable.
Lastly, when we are talking about welfare we are not talking about the trinkets people get in the US. We are talking about people making $50k, $60k, even $80k a year plus truly free housing paid by the state plus free utilities, plus free food, plus free a lot of stuff. It is a whole different world compared to the US's welfare system. In the U.S. welfare keeps you alive but not in great shape. In parts of the EU you are living a VERY comfortable lifestyle with decent cars, new clothes, the works. The idea of not working but living a middle class western life style has a huge draw for 3rd worlders used to living on $4k a year. It is like winning the lottery so, of course, they will go to great lengths to get it.
Jesus Christ, Chardman. Read the Wall Street Journal link and then talk to me because it was fucking quoted from one of his media interviews.
You know, when you have to lie about other peole's positions, as you frequently do, it might be time to admit you were wrong. I know that would be uncharacteristically intelligent for you but I still hold out hope you are not the complete waste of space you seem. What can I say? I am an optimist.
Wouldn't most people? At least, that's the excuse most right wing teabaggers you hate use to keep minimum wage at starvation level and the sorry level of walfare here . Fuck, the way you describe the UK, I'm half tempted to quit my job and hop a flight to London now. I guess I can pass myself off as a Nigerian princess that needs funds for her subjects.
@Dinner, can you explain how these "economic migrants" relate to Gamergate? I'm sure it'll be fascinating.
