That's funny. I was gonna say the popularity of outsiders like Trump is an amazing statement on the underlying racist, uneducated, and fascist urges of modern conservatives.

^Then you'd be ignoring such evidence of how wrong you can be as opposition expressed by movements like 'occupy', the success of 'tea party' candidates, and most recently the relative popularity of outsiders such as Fiorina and Carson.

And even a nutjob like Bernie's gained more ground than should be expected, indicating that even the leftist popcorn is popping wild thanks to disenchantment with the 'establishment.'

What makes Bernie Sanders a "nutjob" besides using that "s" word you don't like?

The beliefs embedded in that 's' word. Look at how old he is. Only three bills he has sponsored have ever passed, and two of those just renamed post offices. That's because almost all the bills he sponsors are loopy; crazy Dennis Kucinich type stuff. You can look them up in the federal register online.

That would be quintessential Trump, and far more likely than a long game to get Hillary elected. Donny don't play well with others.

No doubt people who've amassed huge amounts of student debt would be envious of the possibility that younger generations might see a return to when state universities were tuition-free. People chanting "free shit" may be either stupid or just too lazy to actually read up on the issues. Do we blame the media, the sound-bite candidates, or the lazy people themselves?

    On that we can agree.

We will never give free tuition at state universities because we've let the costs inflate too much. Go to a modern campus and it looks like a shrine to the gods. Eastern Kentucky University, which is a hole off an I-75 exit in the middle of nowhere, just put a $100 million dollar student housing contract. Almost any private charitable organization handling kids would build the same number of rooms for money they could pull together themselves.

Europeans use very low salaries for professors and researchers to keep costs in check, which is why we're poaching the hell out of their brightest minds with offers of lab space and grad students. For anyone in a university, America is still the land of milk and honey. But it's being paid for on the backs of parents and students. That cost can be shifted but not avoided, because aside from parents and students there's nobody else here to tax.

To make universities free, paid for by the government, harkens back to when tuition was a couple of hundred bucks a semester. States can pay that. They recoup the investment. But now they're paying ten or twenty times as much but the rate of economic return is unchanged or drastically lessened (the guy at the Shell station down the street has a masters degree in political science. He sells me candy bars), the state has a losing game.

The difference is that it shouldn't cost any more now than it did in 1930 to stand in front of a blackboard and explain the American Revolution or the use of the first person in a novel, but now there are fifty other people at the university with obscure titles and roles we can't quite fathom, because they had money, friends who needed jobs, and a seemingly endless supply of absolutely pressing social needs that had to be addressed by some new special department.

That spending is wrong, and if Sanders is elected the Republican House and Senate will approve his measure to take greater control of our universities, and then they will correct that spending problem. Most people employed by a university should be working at Waffle House or a BP station, just like their students. We stand ready to make that happen.

It's not about dreams of free 13th-16th grades that I've seen, it's wanting to soak the "filthy rich" and bring them down. Bernie has all the economic sense of a teenager with a Che Guevara t-shirt.

That's what makes me think he's an idiot. If you are spouting the same childish nonsense at 70 as you did when you were 7 or 17 then your brain must be incapable of learning. You can express the ignorance in many different ways, but at the core that's all there is, the worldview of an angst ridden teen who hasn't even grasped the most basic things about money, business, labor, foreign policy, hair care, automotive maintenance, or decorating.

Spicoli finally ran for President, and not so amazingly legions of stoners are pumping their fists.

But at this point he's 70 and managed to get three gnarly bills into law. Renaming those two post offices was totally awesome.

Being able to say and get away with saying all the racist shit racists wish they could say and get away with is not an experience or skill useful to being president.

    Getting the Republican nomination... possibly.

Leading the free world... not so much.

Trump is serious. You all laugh at him at you're peril. Those who think he's going to back out and play games don't realize that he realizes he has a real shot at winning it all. He's not going to throw that shot away.

I'm a Cruz supporter but Trump isn't going anywhere any time soon. He's going to fight all the way to the end of the nomination process at the minimum. I think if Cruz or even Carson were to pull off the nomination he'd back off. Anyone else? Especially Bush? He's going third party.

Agree with the caveat that 'winning it all' refers to the Republican nomination.

No chance in hell he can win a general. Look for Utah to turn blue in that case.

Yeah and look for California to turn red.

I don't think you guys truly understand that Trump is reaching people from all walks of life.

The media may only play the "only right wing nut jobs support Trump" card but reality is that he's captured the interest of a whole lot of people call themselves Democrats. And I'm not talking the far left version of the Democrats. I'm talking the everyday American who grew up being democrat because that's what their parents were. The blue collar democrats. People who call themselves Democrats but really it's only because they've been spoon-fed bullshit by the media that the Republicans are evil all the time.

These same people propelled Obama into office because of a real belief in Hope and Change. They didn't get it. And now they see Obama and the cancer cells who run the Democrat party like Clinton, Pelosi, Reid and the other stodgy old people are just as much crap as the Republican party.

Trump is their Hope & Change in 2016.

So yes he has a real shot at winning not only the nomination but the general election as well.

Especially if it is Trump vs Hillary.

Hillary is terrible as a campaigner. She's well hated by even many Democrat voters. She can't handle anything at a press conference that isn't cookie cutter pre-made for her and she's got the specter of the FBI possibly charging her with crimes for her email. She can't handle a debate. Really shes terrible at them. It's lucky for her that the media was throwing softballs during the debates and her opponents were playing nice.

She's a poor choice for the Democrat nomination.

She's going to attempt to play the only real card she has that isn't damaged, the female card, but stuff like that doesn't work on Trump.

Can Trump win POTUS? Beats the hell out of me.

But no one can say no chance in hell of it happening.

I'll say it. Trump has no chance in hell.

I'm talking biggest landslide in 30 years.

You morons are so out of touch in your right wing bubble that even in election week you actually thought Romney would win. The idea that Trump would even stand a chance is about 100x as laughable.

    From Nov. 4th 2012:
And that's all I have to say about that...

Why wouldn't I think Romney would win?

How is thinking he would have won any different then those who thought Kerry would win?

    1. You didn't just think he would win, you thought it would be a landslide. And not months out but actually the week of the election!

    2. ALL AVAILABLE EVIDENCE CLEARLY POINTED TO A SIGNIFICANT ROMNEY DEFEAT.

So yeah, if you willfully ignore all evidence and just base your predictions on hopes and dreams, I can see why you would think Romney was going to win and that Trump has a chance.

Look. I get that most of your friends are dipshit racists. And that a lot of them like Trump, but the plural of anecdote isn't evidence. And the evidence is pretty clear, Trump has no chance, just like in the last week of the election it was clear Romney had no chance*.

*HINT! The polls weren't skewed, it was just bullshit you morons ate up!

    I don't support the Democrats.
They will have an easy time winning the general election, but the trajectory of the Republican party has dragged the entire political debate to the right, so it's not a positive thing from any perspective.

I always get a kick out of that myself particularly now when the republicans are running a very diverse field of black, hispanic and young candidates while the Democrats are running a field that is all white and old.

Yes, everybody knows about that clip. And people who aren't liars know that the reporter subsequently admitted that he had not actually seen what he reported. That's why Trump made fun of the reporter's physical disability.

All of the polls by every single creditable organization showed Romney far, far behind in the electoral vote count. You guys were busy playing fantasy land trying to "unskew the polls" which essentially meant just pretending they were what ever you wanted. The sad part is the right wing actually believed their own bull shit and that was why they were stunned by the results. Meanwhile, in the real world, the pollsters nailed it exactly yet again.

And what's hilarious is the Democrats are the true racists. They've always have been. From slave owning days up to Hillary putting on a "accent" for black audiences to leftist college students segregating themselves on college campus.

The true racist in this country is the leftist.
