All Black comic book characters should be replaced with white actors for film adaptations

No single superhero movie has completely followed the continuity from the comics. And the comics themselves have rebooted continuity multiple times.

The X-Men movies made so many changes to the source material. From the uniforms, personalities, the ages of various characters.

I have a question for Federal Farmer. You liked Days of Future Past and X-Men Apocalypse yes?

Well has Bolivar Trask ever been a dwarf in the comics? Yes or no? Did it affect your enjoyment of the movie?

I don't know what Lanzman thinks of those movies but if he doesn't like any of them because of continuity then at least that is a consistent argument.

In the end, if the Spider-Man movie does well at the box office and gets good reviews does it make a difference who plays Mary Jane? Aunt May has always been portrayed as a decrepit white haired woman. But in the most recent movies she has been portrayed by Sally Fields and now an even younger Marisa Tomei. Were you complaining about that?

Nostalgia Critic brought up a great point about how all the Hobbits were played by normal highted people, but if they'd done that to "Game Of Thrones", we would have missed out on Peter Dinklage.

I don't expect them to follow the source material completely, but they should respect it. Simply put, Mary Jane is a white girl, why would you cast a black girl when you can plainly see in the comics, she's white? When that question is answered, we'll have a resolution to this. Why does it matter, then, and why should a white Mary Jane be the default?

1) Source material will always be there for you to enjoy. 50 years worth

2) Continuity means 100% dick all when it comes to translating the comics into movies - so much has already been changed

3) What color a character is has literally zero impact on whether or not the movie will be good or not

4) Things are changing, audiences are changing, attitudes are changing - movie studios have every right and are probably smart to acknowledge those changes

5) Who gives a fuck? If this rubs your rhubarb then you probably need to get out more

Let me restate, I don't expect comic book movies to do a live action version of a story line exactly as it was in the comics line by line, panel by panel. I'm fine with them taking a basic story structure and making it their own. DOFP is a perfect example of that. I do; however, expect the actors playing the characters, especially the iconic main characters, to look like the characters they are playing. Christopher Reeve looked like Superman, I would not want Idris Elba playing Superman. Wonder Woman should not be played by Zoe Saldana. I don't see how that's a hard concept to grasp. It would make no sense, Clark Kent isn't black, why would you cast him as such? Furthermore, why is a Latino man playing Alexander Hamilton?

Why can't Parker simply fall in love with a hispanic Isabelle?

No, not everything can be changed. I wouldn't make Bruce Wayne a happy go lucky person who's parents were never shot or Clark Kent is just an asshole who wouldn't save a kitten from a tree. I wouldn't make The Death of Superman movie without Doomsday or the Justice League funeral parade. I wouldn't have cast Amy Adams to play Lois Lane, although I do think she does a good job of it. And yes I was upset about Perry White being black, but he is a minor character. I sure a shit wouldn't turn the Joker into a street thug with tattoo's all over his body.

I won't lie, I was a bit skeptical when I heard of the concept, but yanno what? It works. It's the hottest ticket on Broadway since The Producers and the opening song of the musical tells a pretty accurate story of Hamilton's life. Certain, it has more grounding in history than all white 1776.

Anyone watch Grease Live back in January? They had a whole bunch a brown people, including a Latina playing Rizzo and a black chick playing Marty. But OH NOES, it's the fifties and whitey and darkies didn't get along and certainly mingle together, hurr! :angry:

Except I wasn't outraged over those things. Let's go down the list.

Black Iron Girl- Don't Care, it's a separate character.
Black Perry White- Yes, I disagreed with that. Perry White is white.
Black James Bond- This is the first I've been hearing of it.- Again, why, James Bond is white and has been for fifty years.
Black Mary Jane- Not outraged, it just makes no sense for reasons stated.
All Female Ghostbusters- didn't care about that, just didn't think the movie looked good and thought it was a stupid gimmick, turned out I was right.

I'll add Female Starbuck- didn't care, never saw the original show and it hadn't been a long established character.
