I will say that its not impossible that the Dems coupld peel off enough GOP senators to block such plans in the senate, or absent that filibuster it - but a considerable majority of Republicans in Washington share Pence's views, or serve districts where they dare not oppose it.

I honestly don't give a good goddamn if a performer of any sort expresses a political view if it's after and apart from the performance. Sports, plays, movies, whatever. If I go see Star Wars and when the credits role we get 30 seconds of JJ Abrams saying "Hillary sucks!!!" well, meh, whatever. Indeed, sometimes art is very much ABOUT the act of protest against those in power. When I was on the other side, and the Dixie Chicks thing blew up, I was all for her saying what she said.

And even if all that were not the case, these are not normal times and this is not a normal election and that simple statement was neither confrontational, rude, or angry - it was a citizen addressing elected leadership which is a much more sacred right than the "right" to go to the theater without a political moment
