Proper legislative action by each person's government representative is the only way to truly stop some of these ludicrous EOs that Trump is trying to carry out. Which requires involvement in the political process to begin with. You know, like voting. I just think it is easy to join a march and hold a sign, and much harder to get involved in the political process beyond that. Obama was right. The reason the US is where it is at is because half the country doesn't give a shit about politics beyond whining about it.
I don't see much pro Trump stuff cuz so far I can only name 3 friends that are pro Trump. So I end up with much anti Trump stuff on my FB feed. Most of it is shares. I'm sure many are experiencing the same thing. Either a bunch of anti Trump stuff...also known as Trump hysteria. Or pro Trump if that's the world you live in.
Can't fully agree with that. One side says they are whining to discount their action. But there is only so much the average citizen can do. They are letting the powers that be know how they feel. They are doing what they can to influence policy makers and others that can affect the change they seek.
This is also a reply to @Azure -- My question wasn't a challenge. It was a real question. And not meant to suggest that nothing can be done, either. Not everybody is cut out to demonstrate with a sign, etc. Anyway, that would be effective only if carried out on a giant scale and throughout Donald's term. Yes, the judiciary is to a large degree a truly independent source of some power ... for the moment. And yes, pressure on your congress-humanoid, threatening to lobby everybody not to vote for him/her if inadequate action is taken. Other than that, I don't have a whole lot of specific stuff to propose myself. Just keep up a constant barrage of pressure. Make sure that Donald has the roughest ride humanly possible.
Except that the chances of that happening are approximately equal to the chances of a blizzard in the Sahara Desert. If that...
The thing is as far as the policies and politics of the anti Trump people, all the protesting they do is highly likely to result in precisely the OPPOSITE of what they wish. While protests in New York City, Chicago, California, or Washington D.C. might look cool and impressive, Trump never drew much support from those areas anyway But public displays like that are highly likely to piss off people in red states. In particular those states where TEN Democratic senators are up for reelection, where Trump won by huge margins. You know Trump is going to turn the 2018 midterms into a referendum on himself (his personality is such he could hardly do otherwise). What if all these disrespectful hijinks by Trump critics results in a massacre of Senate Democrats in the 2018 midterms?
This is amazing. I want to insult you, but I won't. The immigration protests DID get results. Piss off red states? No shit! D'UH! Disrespectful hijinks? The new buzz word is SHENANIGANS.
When I hear the word "Shenanigans" I think of the night club in Salem that was a competitor to Doug's Place.
@Dayton3, you’re on record as saying you loathe the man and you didn’t vote for him, so why do you care?
Why would people exercising their constitutional rights be considered hysteria? Why would it piss anybody off, unless they oppose that particular right?
A) I support a number of the policies that he seems to be advancing. B) I think the criticism and disrespect shown him (which I think is excessive and beyond the mostly extremist stuff thrown President Obama's way) to be way over the top and harmful to the country in general and the political process in particular. I have other reasons but that will do for now.
Mitch McConnell = Mostly Extremist John Boehner = Mostly Extremist Paul Ryan = Mostly Extremist Got it.
And this shows how far the left has descended into madness. Those three idiots did more to hinder and obstruct the Republican party in the last eight years than anyone else.
Even compared to the racist stuff aimed at Obama? And you calling Obama a novelty President wasn't disrespectful? More proof you are a racist idiot...
Those three idiots, as you say, were representatives of the mainstream GOP. They criticized the President excessively, constantly, saying the worst things about him, blocked him at every turn, were proud to say they wouldn't agree to any kind of legislation he presented them. So don't look at me for madness, it lies at the heart of the GOP. If you disagree, perhaps you can write Senator McConnell, or Speaker Ryan, because they are still there.
Barack H. Obama would NEVER have been nominated by the Democrats in 2008 had he not been black, and thus never elected president had he not been black. Thus he was a novelty president. That doesn't make me a racist. It makes him a novelty president. And I never marched in streets chanting slogans denouncing President Obama.
It makes you racist, because you cannot conceive of a black man who was elected on his merits rather than his skin color.
No I'm not racist and I can conceive of a black man elected president on his merits. I've supported more than one.
You'd think with how dense Dayton is, that not even Superman would be able to see through him. The irony, however, is that everyone can.
