I grew up in the 1970s and onward and followed Cold War events closely. I remember how liberals/Democrats aside from the occasional one like Sam Nunn and Henry "Scoop" Jackson, constantly prattled about how the war mongering United States government (at least when Republicans were in charge,) the war mongering American military , both cheered on by the evil military industrial complex constantly tried to push the peaceloving Russians or Soviets around.

And if we would just give up most of our weapons then the Russians would be nice.

They ignored the Russians directly or indirectly killing millions of their own people.
They ignored the Russians directly or indirectly killing millions around the world.
Hell they even ignored the Russians trying to kill the Pope.

But be a factor in liberals next novelty president losing instead of taking her rightful place in the Oval Office and its game on.
