https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-powerball-idUSKCN1AZ0BY Wow, that one says last year the power ball jackpot was up to $1.6 billion. How did I miss that one? Still, $650 million isn't bad.
It was funny, the counter couldn't register any higher than 999 million I think that one got split between three people.
Let's see, a million for Mom, a million to each of our siblings and their kids. A mil to some dog charity or other (wife's choice). A mil to some cancer charity or other. A mil to the NRA. Sponsor an airworthy p-47 with the Commemorative Air Force, as long as they paint it in Dad's markings. Buy a replica Focke-Wulf 190 for my own fun flying. Oh yeah - learn to fly! Build a large, isolated house in a quiet rural area on about 100 acres. victorian style, but fully modern. Set up a nice target range in the back yard - or a Hogan's Alley. And an airstrip. My wife can start up that old English sheepdog farm she's always wanted. Maximum distance from civilization, with a full-sized Airwolf replica to get back and forth to town for groceries.
Gonna buy a tank, a ma deuce, 500 acres out in the middle of nowhere, and a bunch of junk cars. Yee haw.
I remember living near mobile AL. whenever the jackpot was big highway 10 was littered with broken down and burning cars from people trying to get to the floriduh border to buy tickets. I went a few times for tickets and there would always seem to be an rv on fire on the drawing day if the jackpot was over 300 million. I love the stupid bible states who don't have lottery sales. All you do is force your desperate people to drive to the border and spend their money in another state. Just take their money at home so they do not need to drive their half dead car into the ground. If I win the money I am buying wordforge and banning gturner again just for shits and giggles.
Where near Mobile? I've lived in Atmore, Mobile (near Airport and 65) and Orange Beach. In fact I was in OB a week ago.
Silverhill down by loxley. We were about halfway between Pensacola and mobile on 10. As you probably know 10 cuts across MS and Louisiana which I believe both did not have lottery sales at the time along with AL. So everyone went along that little section of ten to get to the floriduh border. I used to bring the crazy neighbor into Pensacola for the VA. It was nice when he showed me the local roads so I could avoid the packed gas stations right over the border selling lottery tickets. When I used to live in NY they had not made a deal with powerball yet and I lived right on the Connecticut border so I used to pick up tickets for the office pool because I could hit an off the path retailer over he CT border in less than ten minutes after work. So I knew the deal with people going for the border for lottery tickets before moving to AL. You could see a huge increase in out of state traffic in loxley at lottery times at the loves because it was a good place to stop right before the floriduh border and you would not have to deal with the lottery lines. They could get pretty rowdy.
Fuck Silverhill and their fucking speed trap. I used to have to drive through there 3x a week when I was working in OB and taking classes in Fairhope.
Did he keep the ticket? If he did and you truly had a winning ticket he's committed theft and you need to report him to the state. If he does it to you he does it to everyone.
Why buy on Saturday? I only play the big ones. Doesn't the jackpot start over since someone in Mass won the whole $750 million?
I always plow small winnings back into more tickets. (not that I've ever had any large ones ) I'll take $40 million.
This seems relevant... I failed in my attempt to steal millions of dollars from @Dinner, but "dinner" won me $5 here... on a $5 ticket. Breaking even is almost as good as being ahead millions.
