If we actually win I will be pissed but given the odds... Well, this does raise the entertainment value of my $2 "investment". ;)

It costs $2 to play so that is a -50% return. :(

Still better than rhe usual -100% return though.

I am currently considering purchasing another one due to my first one being... Er... Compromised. Still $4 total would be my max. I've always considered the lotto to be a tax on people who are bad at math. Still, for a throw away $2 it is not a bad entertainment value.

It's funny...I never used to buy Powerball tickets until it'd get over $100M (as if anything less than that wasn't worth bothering with). Then it was not until over $200M. Nowadays I don't even notice it until it hits $250-300M. Currently it's at $430M and I still haven't bought a ticket. I will--it's a nice pleasant little diversion to think about. Maybe I'll even buy 2 or 3 tickets.

At $430M, I'd get $189M after taxes, assuming a single lump sum distribution. That'd buy me...well, damned near anything I ever wanted. Jets, luxury homes in exotic locations, private islands, yachts, two chicks at the same time, etc.... :ramen:

$230k cash if you opt for the cash payment before taxes. Honestly, who cares? Go for the money every month and just stop giving a fuck.

Why stop at two chicks? Why not go to ten or twenty? I mean, yeah, only one dick and one mouth but you still have fingers and toes, don't you?

    I assume you mean $230M, not $230K. Otherwise that's a massive tax %!!! :scary:

And $230M lump sum before taxes equals $189M after taxes, given that MO has a 4% tax rate on lottery winnings (combined with the Federal rate, obviously).

    Or maybe I should just use my luggage combination: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. ;)

Damn. So I apparently suck at buying a lotto ticket. The place I thought had a machine didn't. I went to a bodega around the corner that had a WA Lotto A-Board out front but when I asked for a Powerball, he just hit a button and a auto-generated ticket printed out. Back in the day I remember my Mommy Juliette filling out bubble tickets in Florida, is that not how they do them now? How do I buy a custom ticket?

    For those that wonder,

    Quick Pick.

Most places who sell lotto tickets should have the tickets so you can choose your own numbers.

Geez Anc, it ain't rocket science. QP = Quick Pick...just a randomly generated set of numbers. If you just asked for a PB ticket without handing the guy a filled-out "bubble" form, that's what you're gonna get. Anyplace that sells them should have those forms around somewhere...just ask.

The Powerball ticket lost, but the $5 cashword ticket I bought yesterday won $30.

That's what I like about instant tickets, I actually win sometimes.

Apparently nobody won Powerball so it's up to 500-something million.

I'm in a lotto pool at work and it would be hilarious if we won because there would immediately be something like 40-50 job openings. :diablo:
