You'd have charges of an unfair trial. How can the sitting President get a fair trial while at the same time being on trial in the Senate? He can't.

If there is a motion to suppress evidence in the court does that apply to the Senate? What if the Senate trial makes a decision on a piece of evidence. Is the criminal court now bound by that decision?

What if the court finds him not guilty but the Senate convicts? Obviously he would be booted from office but how would the country take that? Might not be a good idea for Democrats to be celebrating something like that with elections coming up.

Does a Federal court criminal judge have authority over the Chief Justice of the United States whose the judge during the Senate trial?

The head of the executive branch being tried by the legislative and judicial branch at the same time? It would truly be a Constitutional Crisis.

That's a damn good point. They'd have to have a trial in one of those isolated Eskimo villages that you have to take a plane and dog team to get to.

Good question with an easy answer.

The dumb fuck lied about it.

I don't understand these idiots in government who lie. Tell the truth or just tell the investigator to fuck off you don't talk to the police.

The rumor is the court has reset the deadlines in Paul Manafort's trial. This is a possible sign that Manafort also is agreeing to a plea deal.

It's the same shit with Scooter Libby.

He had nothing to do with Valerie Plame's name being leaked. He didn't even know who leaked it.

The actual leaker was Richard Armitage and Patrick Fitzgerald the special prosecutor knew that before he and his team talked to Scooter Libby.

So why the fuck would he lie? Because he's a God damn idiot. He caught himself a perjury charge.

Imagine that. You have nothing to with X but because you're an idiot and you lie about it you are the only one who goes to jail.

Kushner is specifically named as the person who ordered Flynn to make contact with Putin (remember that Kushner asked for an received Russian encrypted communications gear because he wanted to talk to Putin without the FBI or CIA listening in) but supposedly Kushner was the errend boy delivering the order directly from Trump.

Kushner is in a world of legal jeapardy right now because if true he lied both to the FBI and to Congress. Manafort just turned state's evidence and Flynn officially confirmed he is no state's evidence so more and more fish are going to see the writing is on the wall and that they don't want to be the only one left without a plea deal who has to do hard time.

The only question now is does Kushner take the fall or does he squeel on Trump to save his own ass.

Hell, my bet is the CIA and/or the NSA already have a ton of evidence they got from the Russians via espionage, informants, or just signal intel. This would be whatall those closed door i telligence briefing in Congress for the Russia investigators were about. Trump's goose is probably cooked even if Kishner goes doen for him. Republicans in Congress just want their tax give away bill for the lobbyists before they throw Trump under the bus and pretend to be shocked and sad about it.

Flynn is an example of how out of whack the system is.

Comey, the FBI director, told Congress that Flynn committed no crime in his belief.

So why would Flynn cave in and plead guilty?

Because Mueller with unlimited resources crushed Flynn.

Flynn was driven into bankruptcy. He has to sell his house. He can't afford the lawyers to fight Mueller.

He's protecting his son from Mueller.

His family begged him to give up as they were being emotionally crushed along with Flynn.

You can't fight the government agents when they have unlimited resources. The way I see it Mueller is just using Flynn as an excuse to continue his quest to destroy Trump.

It's not justice being done here.

Right, charged with. I've seen a lot of stuff from legal types saying that the deal Flynn most likely struck with Mueller is that he'd be charged with the least of his crimes, in exchange for pleading guilty and turning state's evidence against whomever else. Which means that we have no fucking clue as to what else Flynn has done. For now. This charge against Flynn isn't going away because he pled guilty to it. If the charge was actually bullshit, don't you think he would have entered a plea of "Not Guilty"?

    That's not true.

We do know he was working on kidnapping someone. I believe that.

Look I'm not saying Flynn is a saint. He's not but he's facing unlimited government resources being used to hammer him and his family into submission.

    BUT.......

If Comey told Congress that Flynn didn't lie and than seven months later Muller says no he was lying and charged him I think that's a problem. Is Flynn being charged because he actually committed a crime of lying when the FBI director at the time said he did't or because in the interest of ruining other people Mueller is willing to over look other crimes Flynn has committed?

I'm not seeing how justice is being served here. I see a prosecutor whose set his sights on POTUS and is willing to let anyone walk from any crimes if it means he can get POTUS.

    1) What exactly did Comey say? Your earlier quote was someone talking about what Comey said. What were his actual words and context?

    2) Is is possible that after 7 months of investigation Mueller has learned something that Comey didn't know?

Let's say that I'm a rapist who's also committed mail fraud, but I also have solid proof that can enable a prosecutor to nail a drug kingpin like Pablo Escobar. I get arrested for rape and offer to cop a plea which sends me to jail for mail fraud but doesn't address the issue of rape while giving the prosecution all the evidence they need to take down the drug kingpin. What do you think the prosecution is going to do? Charge me with rape? This was Comey's tweet after news about Flynn came out.

Does that sound like a guy who thinks an injustice was served today? Or does that sound like a guy who knows that some heads are gonna roll?

Mueller is said to be ensuring that the charges leveled against people are such that Trump can't pardon them. Mueller has been described by people on all sides of the political spectrum as someone who's hardcore when it comes to the law. If this meme is to be believed [IMG]
Then he's not someone to be fucked with. Maybe that's right, maybe that's wrong. I have enough faith (though just barely) that the truth will out in this situation.

You are forgetting that Trump had him do these things and then simply threw him inder the bus the second it was convenient to do so. The least Trump could have dpne was raise money for Flynn's legal fees to help buy his silence but Trump is a narcissist who doesn't care or think about others. So why should Flynn stay loyal?

If someone knows where the bodies are buried then you need to show at least some loyalty to them just so this does not happen. Trump didn't even learn from this because he also tried to through Jeff Sessions under the bus thpugh Sessions was smart enough to np doubt remind Trump that he knew about the whole Russia collusion so Trump better not fire him. Thus why tiny hands suddenly shut up and decided to go make threats towards other people instead.

I will say this: It's highly likely that the Logan Act is unconstitutional, and that any conviction under it would ultimately be thrown out.

Trump could not raise money for his defense. Not as POTUS.

He would be accused of all sorts of things by you and the rest of the left.

Not overtly, anyway. He could create a shell nonprofit organization, like all the others. All those promises of millions for veterans and other causes he's so loudly proclaimed he's donating millions to, then not delivered.

Donnie's entire career has consisted of finding "people" to do things for him. Create a shell inside a shell inside a shell, and he could get away with it at least until after the trial.

Top FBI official assigned to Mueller’s Russia probe said to have been removed after sending anti-Trump texts

The former top FBI official assigned to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election was taken off that job this past summer after his bosses discovered he and another member of Mueller’s team had exchanged politically charged texts disparaging President Trump and supporting Hillary Clinton, according to multiple people familiar with the matter.

Peter Strzok, as deputy head of counterintelligence at the FBI, was a key player in the investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server to do government work as secretary of state, as well as the probe into possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 election.

During the Clinton investigation, Strzok was involved in a romantic relationship with FBI lawyer Lisa Page, who worked for Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, according to the people familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.

The extramarital affair was problematic, these people said, but of greater concern among senior law enforcement officials were text messages the two exchanged during the Clinton investigation and campaign season, in which they expressed anti-Trump sentiments and other comments that appeared to favor Clinton.

The only idiot here is the one who still doesn't understand the concept of a plea deal. If Flynn can cope to a charge he'll likely escape for these reasons, and Mueller is letting him do that, then either Mueller is more incompetent than Bruce Banner's therapist or Flynn gave up some major goodies.
