okay I checked out some things about armed white teachers shooting minorities - give me a fucking break. In Augusta (typical southern city) most of the teachers are black. And any white teachers won't say "boo!" to black kids because they don't want to kiss their careers goodbye or get their ass beat from the kid or the kid's parents. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble here but that's the way it is here - your mileage may vary. I have no skin in the game anymore since my kids have been out of HS for a long time.

well that is true - if you aren't trying to kill once you cross that threshold then the "threat" couldn't have been that big a risk to life & limb, and you shot someone when you didn't need to. Nothing more dangerous than someone who does not have their head in the game carrying a gun. I had a soldier who was so inept with weapons it was unbelievable. This was the guy who prayed for god to send angels to "guide his bullets". No, I did not have the authority to kick him out of the army. No NCO (and few officers) have that authority despite what you see in the movies. It's a long involved process. Not being able to handle weapons is small potatoes in the army. The only thing that will get you booted out with a quickness is pissing hot or not making weight. Those trangressions are non-negotiable.

I didn't say that you thought that. You aren't everybody. I was responding to how some people are reacting to arming teachers. You can't please everyone - I think armed teachers (concealed carry) will in many cases deter potential shooters when they don't know who might be armed and who isn't. If they are "open carry" some kids will be intimidated plus they might be target first by the shooters if they have time to recon the school and "pattern" the armed teachers. But knowing that teachers are armed (but not which teachers) just might make a shooter think twice. But being sitting ducks is not the smart play. Then again cowardly cops can really fuck things up too.

Something of greater caliber and powder charge than the average .30 cal. Like say a .50 cal. The .223 is an intermediate-sized round, and is one of the reasons the AR-15 and other rifles like it are so popular, which is the lack of recoil compared to something like a .30-06 or a .308.
