If A President Declares A "State of Emergency"

Dear God this man was elected?

He can barely form a fucking sentence.

There have been a number of American presidents who spoke very poorly.

I think it depends on how this week goes. One of the talking heads said that payroll had to be processed today to get it out by midnight Thursday night/Friday morning, so all these furloughed government employees are still going to miss a paycheck this Friday either way. Couple an increasingly frustrated Federal workforce with this becoming the longest shutdown in history (over the weekend) and if the polls show that his numbers start to tank, he'll either fold or use the nuclear option.

It's going to be the nuclear option.

He can't fold. Not if he wants to win 2020.

This is his "Read my lips" moment.

I'm inclined to agree, this is someone who simply cannot cope with not getting his own way, at least not in ways he can't publicly spin as being a victory. It's too much of a blow to his ego. It has been the pattern his whole life and it's not going to change now.

If that happens I can't wait to see the reaction when a future Democratic president declares a national emergency on health care or climate change.

I'd hate to see that happen on either the wall or health care, either would be an abuse of the power and set a worrying precedent where "emergency" was defined in ideological terms.

That being said it's almost inevitable that climate change will one day become a legitimate cause.

Didn't say he would win as no doubt a national emergency declaration on this issue would be challenged immediately in court. He just can't be the one to fold. If he loses that's fine because he can put the loss down to the actions of Democrats and judges but he can't be seen to be the one to give up first.

The same would apply to any future president about court challenges. A POTUS who declared health or climate a emergency would be challenged as well.

where I live there's a local Redhat that fancies himself an internet entrapaunuer(sp) who has a Facebook page for "County News" upon which he regularly adds Trump worshiping content. Plus there's the Facebook pages of local newspapers and TV stations. I unwisely invest a portion of my time wading into these and speaking truth to insanity.

We have had a good laugh in class over our trumpett who was all afraid Mexicans were going to rape her after coming over the border. When she told me about it I tried to explain to her that I was sure no one is walking across Mexico and then to west palm Floriduh on the tip of the dick of the US to rape her. I looked at her and asked her how stupid she was to believe such a lie, and told her to think about the bullshit she spews in front of me. Worst of all she complained about drug smuggling and drug dealing. She was my fucking Coke connection and was complaining about drug dealing. She buys from Hispanics and was good friends with them and even knows they do not walk their shit over the border. Then I had fun in class mocking the hell out of her.

Never Trumpers/Trump hate exists, in the case of CNN and MSNBC and press like Post and NYT, because of marketing to a target audience to improve ratings or circulation.

In the case of consumers of those products: that's what they were told, or what they were predisposed to believe and then were told.
