I hope for his sake that the envelope was an actual stupid threat from someone.

The FBI is involved in the case and they won't take kindly to false allegations. The envelope was postmarked from Bedford Park which is only 15-16 miles from Chicago. The powder in it was determined to be crushed acetaminophen.

I do find it humorous that Smollett and his manager got this letter and instead of trashing it on the spot they decided to open it wearing gloves. Smart move from those two....

If I got a letter that could possibly be a threat I would cover my ass at every level (personal safety and legal reasons) by turning it over to the authorities with a witness by my side. But I'm a crafty old white devil so there you go!

well that's a mature approach! If I'm wrong (the attack went down exactly as claimed) I'll be happy to admit it - I'll be very happy for Jussie Smollett of course. If I'm right I'll just because people pull hoaxes all the time. This is a pretty mild hoax because nobody was permanently injured or worse. Call me old fashioned but if you are "beat up" but don't require much hospitalization (no stiches or broken bones or concussion) then consider yourself lucky unless you are traumatized mentally. This is not excusing physical violence by any means, I'm just being realistic.

Let us say you are in a car accident and the other guy speeds off. Would you be ok for the police impounding your vehicle for a couple of days to try to search your dad's electronics to see if they could come up with some reason you were hit? If there is some evidence that happened to somehow get into your car from the impact you can turn it over when you find it. Do you even want the police fishing around in your car? Taking that example let us say for some reason there was some pot in your car. You gave someone a ride in it and they left it there. Next thing you know the police are asking you about why the pot is in your car and blaming you for the accident because they say you were intoxicated.

Lots of things can misdirect the police, and he does not need the police calling up all of his contacts on his phone hoping for some lead that they have no reason to believe is there. The MAGA statement really is not much help at all so they don't need to verify it. It is not even clothing that can identify someone. It simply is only relevant socially and not legally so there is no reason for the cops to confirm it. They have no business with it, but some people want to smear the victim so they make up shit.

There is no evidence they can gain from the phone given they know his location without it. There is no reason for them to have it.

the reality is there are people more likely to listen on the dem side than on the racist right. A Hillary Clinton probably took black voters for granted and used them, but there are tons of people in the democrat party who do listen and care. You cannot say that on the right.

He claimed he was talking to his manager at the time of the attack. His manager also claims the same thing and claims that he heard the attack and the attackers saying, "MAGA country".

The phone would have a record that the call took place at the time of the attack and it would contain a record of who the other phone was.

He refused to not only give the police the phone so they could get that data but he wouldn't even let them access the records from his carrier.

I could understand maybe not wanting to give them the phone physically but what excuse is there for not at least showing them the call log on the phone or sending them a screenshot of it or of him calling up Verizon (or whoever) and saying he needs a listing of his calls and the times so he can help the police?

He refused them all that and they had to go get subpoenas to get that information.

Here's why they need to verify not the statement but the fact that the call took place during the attack:

When the police first made contact with him and he told them what happened he told them he was on the phone with his manager at the time of the attack.

Verifying that yes he was on the phone with the manager at the time of the attack is testimony to his truthfulness to the police about the incident. Police aren't stupid. They get lied to a lot and they know it.

At the same time if there was an actual attack the testimony of the manager could come into play. The police would have proof that the call took place at the time of the attack and the MAGA statement would come into play.

They can actually do that from his service provider if they need to. All it would take is probable cause and a warrant. That is a lot of work for something that makes absolutely no difference at all to the investigation. The only reason you want that to happen is to harass and intimidate him because you don't like black guys talking about getting their ass kicked by the modern day klan you are lying and pretending doe not exist.

People who don’t get the appeal of hot sauce are weak. I’m not talking about that Texas Pete shit either. If there aren’t skulls, demonic imagery, and/or threats to your life it isn’t worth using. I have some ghost pepper sauce that burns like the blood of the creature from Alien. I’ve been trying to get some Carolina Reaper sauce, but there aren’t any sauce stores near me.

Ghost pepper quest is great good, the cheese takes out a lot of the burn and just leaves you with a low level burn that lingers for a while. I need to get or make some more.

Jerome, Arizona has a hot sauce store, Jerome Ghost Pepper Company. I love stopping in and sampling stuff every time I pass through, and I always have a few bottles of their products laying around my place.
