Why do you lack empathy for two innocent African-Americans* who have been wrongfully accused as part of a racist plot?

*And, yes, the two brothers are, in fact, American citizens.

I doubt their story is getting far when the basis of their case seems to be that they defamed themselves by admitting to assaulting someone. The entire premise of their case is Jussie was wrong because he did not identify them as the people who assaulted him, which they have to admit was them for him to be lying. I am pretty sure you cannot profit off of your own crime.

But they can try. It seems to me to be their moment of fame. They should write a book called "we did it"

Are they charged with anything? I dont recall Smollet fingering them directly, and it was the local PD who wanted to speak with them after they saw them on camera around the alleged time of the concocted incident. Didn't they turn themselves in voluntarily and get released almost immediately?

I'm not sure why you continue to obsess over this story.

Fact: Smollett claimed the two men at the scene attacked him.

Fact: The two brothers were the two men at the scene.

Provide a scenario that reconciles those two facts and wherein Smollett is innocent and the brothers are not criminal.
Yes, because it became immediately clear that they were not what Smollett claimed.

Hasn't stopped Smollett or his attorneys from maintaining Smollett's innocence--and thus the brothers' guilt.

    You either believe that:
    1. Smollett paid the brothers to stage the "attack" on him. [What the brothers claim]
    or
    2. The attack on Smollett was perpetrated in the dead of night on a deserted street during an extremely cold winter storm by two people who were friends with him (and whom he had recently paid several thousand dollars) and whom Smollett not only failed to recognize, but whom he misidentified as white men. [What Smollett claims]

There really isn't any other option.
Because you'd rather I not. :diacanu:

Seriously, if this hoax had succeeded, how long would Trump supporters have had it thrown in their faces at every opportunity? Hmm? That's about how long I'll keep it up.

About as long as an actual legit Trump-inspired crime took place.

So, probably two days, tops :diacanu:

Nice to know you're more worried about Trump supporters instead of the minorities whose legit concerns will continue to be ignored because of this guy, however. :borg:

Lol so it boils down to defending Trump by proxy. Now it's making sense.

Well, the lie that Smollett was trying to perpetrate was against Trump and his supporters, was it not? Exposing the lie can be seen as defending Trump, but it's still exposing a lie intended to spark divisions.

I would've thought if that wasn't bad enough for you, that betraying his former friends--even suggesting, laughably, that they wore "whiteface"--would do it.

By the way, Smollett's attorney insinuated one of the brothers was gay. Did you know that can be punishable by death in Nigeria?

And, since believing Smollett--don't know how anyone with half a brain could, but still--means the brothers are guilty of some crime, their reputations are sullied.

But no harm done, according to you, since they weren't charged.
