The assistant DA already said he doesn't consider Smollett innocent, so… :clyde:

The DA is having it both ways. The DA can say they believe he's guilty and talk about forfeiting bonds or some community service, but Smollett's official record is clean and he escapes any real consequences.

I think if they have a trial those Nigerian brothers should demonstrate to the court room what Smollett would look like after they truly assault him. :D

We now know what community service he did:

Jussie Smollett logged a total of 18 hours of community service over 2 days -- with Jesse Jackson's organization, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition -- and that was enough to satisfy prosecutors in Chicago.

We're told Jussie's "service" included stuffing membership envelopes, working in the group's bookstore to sell merchandise ... and critiquing its Saturday broadcast. We're told he helped them with camera angles, and also worked with the music director on a plan to build the choir.

A Rainbow PUSH rep says it was their decision, not Jussie's, to keep his work with them under wraps. The rep added that they viewed his efforts as volunteering, not community service. Point being ... Jussie never mentioned his deal with prosecutors. Remember, the prosecutor's office says it was in discussions with Smollett's camp for weeks about dropping the charges.

    https://www.tmz.com/2019/03/26/juss...e-rainbow-push-jesse-jackson-charges-dropped/

18 hours? That's it? That's considered enough service?

    :brood:

    That's some major league bullshit.

Not only should Foxx and her DA guy should be tossed the judge needs to go as well.

What I don't get is the vindictiveness. Okay, he broke the law, go ahead and punish him for it -- according to the law. You want to see him beaten and lynched for real. :shep:

negative! look back through the threads - I thought it was overkill hitting him with all the charges. I was even questioning why it was a federal charge to mail letters to yourself. But to try to pass off a total wrist-slap as fair is insulting the intelligence of everyone in Chicago. :brood:

BTW stuffing envelopes? I hope they were pre-addressed or he'll just mail them to himself.

BTW I was joking! I wouldn't want anyone to get assaulted, I was just bringing up the point of how fucking stupid some people are to think that when Smollett said "I fought back! I'm not weak!" and only ended up with.....zero injuries he wasn't lying after seeing the pic of these brothers. That was just one of many red flags of course.

So you read the whole report and saw that there was no evidence? Or ignoring the current DOJ guidance that a sitting president can't be indicted?

Trump not being indicted means absolute shit, just like the charges for Smollett being dropped.

Also it is more telling that you think my comment applies to you.

Ya know what? Maybe a $10K fine and a monumental degree of public humiliation is good enough. It's not like he murdered anyone.
What's the usual punishment for turning in a false police call anyway?

To be honest if Smollett can beat the rap, good for him. When we get in trouble our goal should be to get out of trouble: mission accomplished (so far) for Jussie Smollett. He's the winner, the city of Chicago/state of Illinois is the loser. That's just how things play out - it's a total crapshoot nearly 100 percent of the time no matter who you are. There's a saying in Hungary - "sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you!"

And speaking of bears and Chicago........DA BEARS!

It would be good enough if Smollett was contrite about what he did.

Instead he arrogantly went out of the courtroom claiming he's innocent.

Humiliation only works if you know you did wrong and you're ashamed of it.

Smollett clearly doesn't give a crap.

Of course you were joking. You put a fuckin smiley at the end.

Quest was just pretending he was Trump - say whatever works to make your point, ignore whatever details contradict the point.

I agree with Forbs and others- in a vacuum the "disorderly conduct" crimes Smollet was charged with were adequately resolved, but there are two glaring caveats.

Others (not so well connected) who were charged with the same crimes probably wouldn't have received the same, privileged, treatment. See e.g. 7 People Who Were Sentenced for Same Thing Jussie Smollett Allegedly Did

Smollet didn't just fake an assault to get some attention - he injected racial elements, and "Trump" elements, to help foster more hate in America. He spread his lies on national tv; the script was horribly crafted, and rehearsed with facts designed to fit a carefully designed narrative (it's a surprise that Smollet wasn't on his way back from donating braile books to the blind orphanage before he went to Subway) , and poor casting (couldn't afford white hoodlums?).

So, not just a run of the mill case. What were there, 18 murders in Chicago that occurred during the investigation?

If the Mueller report said "President Trump should be indicted for X, Y, Z, because of evidence A, B, C," you might have something, but it apparently does not. Quotes from the report seem to say that the Trump campaign rebuffed multiple attempts by the Russians to collude, and the report does not provide support for an obstruction charge without regard to the implications of charging a sitting President.

If you're holding on to the thin hope that the AG has completely misrepresented the report in his summary, you're going to be disappointed.
You really don't see the difference between being charged by a grand jury and never being charged at all? Seriously?
Sorry, I get called racist so much lately--usually when my opponent has little reasonable argument--I think it's always aimed at me.

I can't help but get the feeling that this prosecutor is a true believer, and didn't want to prosecute this case, which is why she initially recused herself and tried to pawn the case off on the Feds.

And then un-recused herself and, without consultation with anyone, stealthily made Smollett the best deal imaginable (for him).

damn! I've heard of misdemeanors getting expunged, but it usually takes a while according the DA who handled my son's case. Sixteen charges getting wiped away like Smollett has his own time machine is epic!

BTW as for Tuttle's comment about Smollett injecting racial/political elements I GUARANTEE the left will use the following excuse. I'm paraphrasing, since I can't quite capture the subtleties of left speak:

"well if Trump hadn't set the stage through all his racist & homophobic rhetoric nobody would have been so willing to believe an attack by MAGA guys occurred. Trump inspired attacks are almost a daily thing - they are all over the internet!" :drama: So there you go - no matter what, the left will shift the blame. To be honest, I think they are practicing for when they get rag dolled in November 2020.

well NOW it makes sense! Smollett was just paying them for their training services. THAT'S why they were on camera buying bleach and rope.
Just this morning at my gym I saw a couple of guys toting around bleach and I thought they were janitors! And they do have "battle ropes" at my gym but maybe those Nigerian brothers have to supply their own ropes so they can be more mobile to better serve their customers! And they could have easily forgotten their 30 feet long ropes were around Smollett's neck when they were outside training in sub-zero temperatures!

This thread is comedy gold. Or maybe tragedy gold. Or both.

I had no idea that the discourse on this board, or the state of the American political consciousness, or the fake Left on the board or in society, or any combination of the above, had deteriorated this badly. I really assumed it was exaggerated. I did not think anyone could lie as openly, as frequently and as unashamedly as someone like Tererun as a registered member on a message board. I thought it reserved to places like 4chan. I was wrong.

Signed, someone who's had a hammer and sickle in his avatar for more than a decade. One who knows the meaning of the Marxist term named "antagonistic contradiction" and exactly what led us down this hellhole, if not the current extent of it.
