Nice! I've always wanted a CZ-75, and the SP-01 is supposed to be a fantastic shooter.

here, let me try that again, damn photobucket.

Yeah, it's a CZ75 SP-01, and it IS a fantastic shooter. The ergonomics are amazing and the felt recoil? What felt recoil? I was goind to do a side by of the Beretta and a 1911 but the TL;DR on that is the beretta has less felt recoil and holds more ammo per mag, but her fat ass hinders accuracy. So I'm gonna put a few hundred rounds through the CZ and do a comparison to the beretta, a more fitting endeavor.

Recovering from the holidays meant there was no January gun, but today I DROSed the Five-seveN I laid away in December, and will pick it up in 2 weeks.

Next month, a 4" Ruger GP-100 .357. It's the new seven shot model. About time Ruger caught up with S&W's 686.

And for April I put the final(?) Sig for my collection on layaway. It's a 229 Enhanced Elite in .40. I'm going to convert it to .357 Sig (barrel swap) because I want a gun in that caliber. It may become my regular home defense gun.

And that lever gun belongs to me now. :diacanu:

My dad has decided to do some "de-cluttering" and part of that is reducing his gun collection. He plans on selling most of them, but wanted to give me first dibs on any that I wanted.

For now I wound up with that Rossi .38/.357, my grandfather's Marlin .30-30, my dad's IBM M1 carbine (which has zero collector value thanks to someone in the past sporterizing the fuck out of it ) and another Nylon 66 .22LR that was left behind when one of my dad's renters moved out ten years ago.

He's keeping a few guns which, coincidentally, are the only others in the collection that I wouldn't mind having. I'll inherit them someday, but hopefully that day is a long, long way off.

I brought the Five-seveN home last week, and I've already got the .357 Sig barrel for the Sig 229. I'll DROS (Dealer Record of Sale, which kicks off the California 10 day wait) the Ruger GP-100 shortly after March 4th.

Gotta start thinking about what May's gun--my birthday gun--is going to be this year...

I used to have a Marlin 30-30 - similar to the Winchester 30-30 but one loads/ejects out of the side, the other one out of the top. I can't remember which was which since I haven't used a lever action since I was a kid.

The Marlin is a side-ejector, and the Win is a top-ejector.

Changed my mind. Those apparently have jamming problems when you grip them by the magazine/magazine well while firing.

I should be picking one of these up on Tuesday or Wednesday. :commie:

I’ve been looking for one in 9mm for a while now and last week Classic Firearms emailed me that they had more in stock. :walz:

love this pic! The rusty ledge area gives it a "hey, I'm in an urban warfare firefight and I just set the weapon here while I take a swig of water real quick" feel to it.

The next one in the queue for me is the Marlin 1894SBL in .44 Magnum. Saw it in the store, handled it, and couldn't resist.

It'll be the little brother to my 1895SBL (.45-70) (yours truly--in porkier form--from 8 years ago)...

Picked this up the other day. A Type 38 Arisaka, so the flag is appropriate. :D Alas, the bayonet is incorrect, so the Emperor disapproves. :'(

Finally got over to the dealer yesterday to pick it up.

It was supposed to ship with four magazines but only included two. Right after I ordered it, Classic Firearms changed the deal to include only two magazines and they clearly got my order mixed up. One phone call straightened out the matter and two additional magazines are already on the way.

Looking forward to shooting it next month. I cleaned it up today, which took no time at all. Not a spec of Cosmoline, which is a first for any ComBloc weapon I've ever bought.

It didn't come with the sling but Amazon had one for cheap. What's hilarious is that the little oil bottle included in the kit actually came with oil already in it.

That's awesome! Wish I could get things like that here. *grumbles*

I DROSed the Ruger GP-100 today. She's heavy, but seems very well built and feels good in the hand.

I've wanted a GP-100 since they were first introduced in the mid-80s but never have gotten around to it.

At this point it's unlikely that I'll ever bother.

My nephew has had one for years and it's a good shooter that I've always liked, but I've been more inclined to S&W. Now that I'm pretty well covered there, I imagine I'll get a few more Rugers to round out the collection. I want that Super Redhawk Alaskan .454 snubbie and I should add a Super Blackhawk at some point.

I love my 5-1/2" Stainless Super Blackhawk. You won't regret it. It's actually my go-to sidearm if I'm going camping, hunting, etc. I'm also glad Marlin is back in the business of making .44 Rem Mag carbines. I have an old blued one that's just about the handiest little shooter I've ever owned.

One of the guns my dad is looking to get rid of as part of his "de-cluttering" is a stainless Redhawk in .44 magnum.

I thought about taking it, but it would not only just be a safe queen but would also introduce a extraneous caliber into my supply chain. Plus, it's in great shape and he can probably get several hundred for it even at a gun show.

If I get a hankering to shoot .44 magnum, I'll just shoot my best friend's 7.5" Super Blackhawk.

No kidding. I decided to simply things a few years ago. The only oddballs I have left are my Marlin 1895GS in .45-70 Govt and my grandfather's old Savage bolt-action .410 shotgun. Four generations, including my son, have used that gun to hunt. So, it gets a special dispensation.

I mean, three of the four guns I got from him a couple of weeks ago are in calibers I didn't already have (.30 carbine, .38/.357, and .30-30) but the guns themselves have sentimental value. He got that Redhawk a few years ago as partial payment for a construction job he'd done or something, so I don't really have any interest in it beyond always sort of wanting a .44 magnum. It's not even set up so you could put a scope on it for hunting.

Other than those, though, the only oddball caliber I have is 7.62x54R.

They're even better since Ruger redesigned it to take 8 shots instead of 6!
    plain-and-simple-old-fashioned-communism.jpg

    :diacanu:

    In rifles, I don't have anything odd: .22, .308, .223, .30-'06, 7.62x39, .45-70, and (soon) .44 Magnum. Shotguns are all 12 gauge.

I do shoot a wide range of pistol calibers, though mostly 9mm, .45ACP, .357 Mag., and .44 Mag.

The only true oddball I have is a .45 Win. Mag. Automag IV; not sure I'll ever again find ammo on the shelf at regular gun stores for it. For a while, I thought 10mm was going to suffer a similar fate, but it seems to be on a pretty strong comeback.

I'm getting into 5.7x28 (cool, but probably little more than a novelty) , .327 Magnum (may be a potential game-changer), and .357 Sig (great round, probably headed for extinction).

To my credit, I do not own a .45GAP. :diacanu:

Sorry, when I say oddball, I mean oddball compared to everything else I own. Not oddball in the general sense. Before acquiring those three long guns I mentioned above (and leaving out the Mosin-Nagant), the only calibers I needed to keep on hand were .22LR, 5.56NATO, and 7.62x39. We only own 9mm and .45ACP handguns. The shotguns are all 12gauge.

I buy ammunition by the case. :bergman:

Agreed about 10mm, BTW. Last weekend I went to a gun show for the first time in probably ten years and saw lots of pistols chambered for that.

It's funny, because as popular as .303 was when my dad bought his first hunting rifle in the '70s, it seems to be a rare one now. And on top of that have 7.7 and 6.5 Jap, both of which seem to be very hard to find ammo for even online. 8mm Mauser sadly seems to not be as popular as it used to be either.

I found a pretty good deal an an SMLE at that gun show a couple of weeks ago, but passed on it in large part due to the cost of ammunition.

My "oddball" shooters are a .30-.40 Krag and two Colt SAAs, but I've never really had any problem finding ammo for any of them.

When I say “oddball” I was speaking strictly of my personal inventory. If I only have one weapon of any given caliber, it’s an “oddball” (ie .45-70 Govt).
