Barr doesn't seem the type that would protect Trump is Trump truly had broken any laws.

Barr issuing a principal conclusions memo is not the end of what will be released. More info will be released in the days to follow.

If Barr did try to sanitize a report that is bad for Trump do you all really think Mueller would stand by and do nothing?

I'm getting sick of this whole thing being made into a left-right issue.

It's not. Any decent American, regardless of political beliefs or party affiliation, should be gravely concerned by the person sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office. By every objective standard, the man is clearly beneath the dignity of, and unqualified for, the highest elected office in the nation. But I fear this is what America has become.

"In the fourth century AD, when the mob came to destroy the Library of Alexandria and the genius of classical civilization, there were not enough people to defend it.

What will happen the next time the mob comes?"

He's a crude boor, but he didn't win office of "Pope." Geez, get over yourself.

Now, for the rational members, here's a very well written post mortem. Not very flattering to our MSM or the 'alternative' press, or to ex intelligence officials and other media pundits.

Trump-Russia inquiry: President 'did not conspire with Russia'

"The summary of the special counsel's report released on Sunday "did not draw a conclusion" as to whether there was any obstruction of justice, either.

It states: "While this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him".

However, the attorney general says this does not amount to an offence."

Mueller Finds No Trump-Russia Conspiracy but Stops Short of Exonerating President on Obstruction of Justice

"The investigation led by Robert S. Mueller III found that neither President Trump nor any of his aides conspired or coordinated with the Russian government’s 2016 election interference, according to a summary of the special counsel’s findings made public on Sunday by Attorney General William P. Barr."

FYI, had hard time finding his name.

Matt Taibbi wrote the article I linked to - he writes for Rolling Stone (typically a pretty garbage source, but he sure nailed what turned out be "Russiagate" hoax, and this wasn't from the Stone, it's part of a book he's writing). Probably he's a liberal or leftist, right?

    From the letter:

On collusion: "But as noted above, the Special Counsel did not find that the Trump campaign, or anyone associated with it, conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in these efforts, despite multiple offers from Russian-affiliated individuals to assist the Trump Campaign."

On obstruction: "After reviewing the Special Counsel's final report on these issues; consulting with Department officials, including the Office of Legal Counsel; and applying the principles of federal prosecution that guide our charging decisions, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and I have concluded that the evidence developed during the Special Counsel's investigation is not sufficient to establish that the President committed an obstruction-of-Justice offense. Our determination was made without regard to, and is not based on, the constitutional considerations that surround the indictment and criminal prosecution of a sitting president."

Anyone with half a brain cell knew that the Russians attempted to influence the 2016 Presidential Election. I'm not going to lie, with all the circumstantial evidence in the court of public opinion, I felt fairly certain that the the Trump Campaign was in on it. I'm glad to find out I was wrong on that.

Oh, but I'm also making the :diacanu: face with confirmation that Wikileaks was a knowing tool of Russian intelligence.

Trump may not be totally exonerated by the Mueller report, but he's certainly going to look vindicated in a great many people's eyes. Win.

There won't be any more Mueller grand juries or indictments or verdicts eating up the oxygen. Win.

The mainstream media rode this hard and came up empty. Their credibility is shot and skepticism about their reporting will only increase, in my view rightly so. Win.

Trump has plenty of ammunition to pack while riding the "fake news" horse into 2020. Win.

Anyone riding the Trump-is-Russia's-stooge horse better get off. They're looking pretty foolish. Win.

I hope the Democrats DO keep up the investigations. It certainly won't be seen as impartial; and in light of the Mueller report, it will look just like a political witchhunt. Win.

You didn't kill him, Democrats. You've only made him stronger.

"Trump may not be totally exonerated by the Mueller report"

You don't have to be exonerated in America. You're innocent until proven guilty and since there is no evidence that led to a charge or a recommendation for a charge he did not obstruct justice.

Slow your roll there, sport. There are still cases connected to the Mueller investigation that have yet to be tried (Roger Stone, comes to mind). They may not be prosecuted by anyone on Mueller's team (though he still has lawyers working cases as I recall), but in the public's mind, as well as the media, those cases will be seen as part of the same investigation. Doesn't mean it's true, doesn't make it right, but I think that we can both agree that's how the world works.

I mean, let's be honest here, do you really think that when the SDNY unseals one of the indictments they're rumored to have against people connected to Trump that the media isn't going to breathlessly announce it? I don't care what side of the political spectrum you're on, that's going to be the perfect opportunity for you to go after your favorite whipping boy, be it Trump, or a news network.

If the unredacted (or mostly unredacted) version of Mueller's report becomes public, it's going to be picked over like the Warren Commission report for decades to come. And the Democrats in the House will, no doubt, hold hearing after hearing on the subject, just like happened with Benghazi. This isn't over, even if no one else is ever brought to trial on the subject.

There is no guarantee that Trump wins 2020.

I think he will given the Democrats have no one running. Well no one if you don’t count the clowns who say they are running.

Plus given what happened today and knowing Democrats will go crazy the next two years attacking Trump still over Russia which will backfire on the Democrats will make it far easier for him to win.

But it’s not a lock. Anything can happen between now and 2020.
