Honestly, I'm not sure why I bother to respond. I don't know if Tererun is as concerned about rape, corruption, etc. as she is about feeling superior to other people from her progressive perch. Blah. Donald Trump Lite.

Email #6: Eric wants to talk about "the dishonesty from the media," and remind me that there's only an hour left to make a contribution if I want a 700% match (down from 800% yesterday - do these people even talk to each other?). Yeah, I'm rushing to find my debit card even as we speak.

This right here. Honestly, I view a vote for Biden as political triage more than anything else. Will he be great? Probably not, but I'd vote for far worse if thought it would save off the fascism that is inevitable with a second term of Trump. Biden can be embarrassed or shamed into doing what is right...not so much Trump. He's also a man who's had to bury two children so he knows the value of a life, a thing that many people view as a huge selling point right now.

If the GOP tries to have a petty go of his conduct surrounding Reade, I certain won't sit shiva behind it. At the risk of channelling Dayton, such a move would make it easier for an AOC win in 2028 :diablo: I certainly don't think Biden is any kind of saint, but I'd really want to buy a condo in the next 3 years and California in a secession war really kills those vibes, man.

All right, so I think I'm being unfair towards Tererun here, and I hope she can accept my honest apology for being unnecessarily insulting.

In short, if Tererun really thinks Joe Biden is a rapist--if she's convinced of it beyond all doubt, that is--and if it's morally imperative for Tererun to not cast a vote for Biden, well...I'm going to respect that. No use trying to convince her of the 'triage' argument or otherwise. I'm going to take Tererun at face value. She needs to do what she feels is best. That's certainly her right.

You're entirely too accommodating, IMO. Tererun's posts suggest a lack of moral center. Now, granted, she sailed in here styling herself as a "Master Troll," so it might all just be a game to her and there's no real commitment to anything at all. I would see some evidence of a real person inside all that :drama: if she'd answer whether or not she'll help her grandparents to vote.

You should practice your insults. That was really lame. If you are going to resort to them on a primary basis you probably should do better.
Here comes the justifications and excuses.
Actually, if you want to use legal terms, the testimony of the victim about the event is not considered hearsay. That would be the testimony of the victim. If it were her friend who had not witnessed it and only heard of what happened from her that would be hearsay. Try to get your terms straight.

Also, this is not a court of law. This is electing a president. So, beyond a reasonable doubt does not apply, nor do the rules of testimony. Instead we make judgments based on the story and I personally do not want someone who we have video evidence of molesting women without their permission, and a highly credible story of rape that goes along with his bragging about being violent, being my choice for president.

Oh, and as for evidence we have seen joe touch women in unprofessional and sexual ways on camera. This is recorded evidence. This is not some story. This is a man who degraded his wife while she was introducing him at a professional event by sucking on her fingers in front of a campaign crowd. That is his own wife that he did that to while she was being professional. If he does that to his own wife, what do you think he would do to a person who doesn't mean anything to him?
Keep the fuck up. I don't repeat the same things over and over for the republicans when they caught up, or are out of their league. Go back and read the info on joe and get back to me when you are caught up.

Dude, if you are going to hide in a hole like this and pretend you got skills that is great. I am not a trekbbs person. I did not come from the neutral zone. I am slumming as I normally engage with a much better educated crowd of political argumentation. You are quaint and cute over here, but do not start thinking you can come with this lame ass CNN bullshit and win. Do your homework.
You cannot even deal with any point but the rape.

I have told you Joe has a long record of racism and legislative corruption. He is the senator from MBNA. There are a billion things wrong with joe aside from the rapey things, but you do not want to gewt into that because you are woefully ignorant.

I will ask you one question.

Who has a history of piss poor legislation that has harmed america, caused financial collapses, endorsed corruption, legalized bribery, sent so many brown people to jail, was the one who pushed reagan into the drug war, made predatory loan practices legal. supported our endless wars in the middle east, established ICE, established FISA courts, and was part of an administration that broke every record in bombing innocent people?

It is nice that you admit these things exist, but by voting for joe you are not just complicit, but actually endorsing them happening.

You are just a joke. This is some trumpista level contradiction.

Am I horrible because i have principles that you say are going to cause trump to be elected, or do I not have a moral center because I do not like rapists and sexual harassment?

The wordsmith is as lame as ever. You would really make a great trump supporter with that sort of bullshit.

Yes, I do not care for rape corruption, racism, and all the things Biden/trump stand for. I am also quite superior.

I actually do believe in progressive ideas, and am willing to fight for them. Some people cannot stand up for their principles and act against everyone when the large proportion of both sides are wrong. Just because the republicans are wrong does not make the dems right.

I'm going to attempt to engage with you in a serious, respectful manner. I hope we can both dial it back a bit, because I think what you're saying should be taken seriously.

I don't take any pride in being insulting, and I wasn't trying to score insulting points on you. I know this is the Internet and all, but still.

Fair enough, 'hearsay' was a bad choice of words. How about saying 'I won't come to a conclusion based on an unsubstantiated, unproven, evidence-free accusation that has been vetted by people with everything to gain by discrediting Biden and nothing to lose?' Is that better?

So we don't have to consider anything but our own judgement based on the story? Then why are we arguing?

So let me get this straight. If I suck on my wife's fingers on camera, and I'm accused of rape...I'm probably guilty? Thank God this isn't a court of law. Are you serious?

And people don't take you seriously here...why? Wait, no, trying to be respectful.

This is all...fair enough, if hyperbolic to a comical degree. Biden has a very questionable record and is most definitely not the progressive choice for president. But once again, in big bold letters:

HE IS STILL BETTER THAN TRUMP.

In short, I would rather elect someone problematic like Biden than someone downright harmful like Trump. This is what's called a pragmatic decision. I don't like it. I'm not feeling great about it. But Trump is a literal existential danger to the American Republic. Biden is...a typical Democratic politician. It would be nice if we had other choices, but we don't. I wish we did. Here we are. We don't have the luxury of highfalutin principles right now. Well, maybe you do. I do not. I'm sorry if that means I'm a terrible person, but I have a kid I want to see grow up in an America I can at least recognize.

I'm thinking you misunderstood the title. The details are there, in the title. The e-mail is saying that the point that Trump intends to make in the debate is "DO NOT SHARE".

That's his personal philosophy: everything for me, nothing for anyone else. IOW, Trump only cares about himself.

As if it took an e-mail to figure that out...

With that kind of attitude, the next thing you know you'll be thinking that blacks should be treated correctly like anyone else, and that women should be allowed to vote.

And then you'll be well on your way to being way over on the left politically...

Worth making a distinction here between a legal conviction and the belief of guilt. One requires (in principle) a formal assessment of the available evidence, the other does not.

That may seem patronising but consider how weak the correlation between the two is when democracy is built on belief. "I believe ABC about candidate X" is how votes are cast, often with belief being defined by the social circles of the voter. If the voting public believe someone to be a rapist they needn't have a conviction for it to factor into the election process.

You might argue that's deeply wrong and to an extent I'd agree, but the whole purpose of an election campaign is to establish a positive image of one's self as a human being and candidate, not to compare criminal records.

Both Trump and Biden are weak potential leaders and both have varyingly dubious backgrounds, proven and suspected, but sadly making elections function on the basis of objective proofs is anathema to the process as we know it and would potentially shift an awful lot of political onus onto the courts rather than the electorate.

Case in point: the $15 MW
A pure Bernie '16 concept, Hillary would only back going to $12.
Biden is on the record, and promoting, that he's for the 15, and eliminating the tipped minimum and the disability minimum exception.

That's progressive activism applying constant pressure and pushing a deeply moderate nominee to move him to the left.

There's almost 400 pending bills that Mitch won't put on the floor. If the Dems take the senate and put those on his desk, he will almost assuredly sign them and that alone would make him - in the first six months - the most progressive administration since FDR.

Email #5, under the subject line THIS IS URGENT:

For MONTHS, the Fake News polls have shown Sleepy Joe ahead of your President in key battleground states.

The lying media doesn’t want to upset their Democrat Partners, so in a recent poll, they’re still reporting I’m down a few points. Ridiculous. They’re trying to TRICK the American People into thinking I have no chance of winning, but WE know that couldn’t be further from the truth.

It’s going to be an uphill battle to win these critical states, and I am counting on YOU to step up and help ensure a MASSIVE VICTORY. I need you to contribute to the Official Battleground State Fund.

ALL GIFTS MADE TO THE OFFICIAL BATTLEGROUND STATE FUND WILL BE 600%-MATCHED! With your help, our movement will win in a LANDSLIDE.

From 800% to 700% to 600%. Curioser and curioser...
