There is absolutely no evidence for this. It is based on an unjustified extrapolation of what was practiced in one local community (Jerusalem) for a short period, even though no texts whatsoever indicate it was ever practiced anywhere else. (There were more Christians in Galilee than in Judea at the very outset of Christianity, but not the slightest indication that the Galilean Christians practiced that sort of communal sharing of resources, and even less that there was a common system between the Judean Christians and the Galilean Christians.)

It is also worth noting that it was explicitly stated, even in the group in Jerusalem, that this was voluntary sharing. Those who wished to keep their private property to themselves had every right to do so. That, also, is not really a communist system. Furthermore, references to what went on in different believers' houses show that they did not all practice communal living.

Finally, it is worth noting that for at least a generation afterward, Christians in other part of the Mediterranean world regularly took up offerings to help the believers in Jerusalem, who had apparently impoverished themselves to a rather extreme degree with that practice.

The bottom line then is that the historical evidence simply isn't there to state as a general principle that "early Christianity was communist".

Fox News stopped showing the White House press conference, saying they couldn't in good conscience air the false claims without any evidence being presented.

    The bunker siege mentality grows:

Barr is launching probes to "investigate" Trump's baseless conspiracy theories. Taken alongside the news of Trump firing the defense secretary that refused to deploy troops against innocent civilians... :flow:

Another big loss in this election is socialism. Sorry Leftforge, but your radicalism is unwanted.

Barr or Bannon? The latter got himself booted from Twitter and Facebook for saying that but I hadn't heard the former make that statement.

Seriously though, a bunch of cowardly moderates failed to defeat their Republican opponents while the entire Squad won re-election easily. Socialism isn't going away any time soon. Good job finding an article telling you exactly what you want to hear, though.

You say unwanted, but it seems that the Presidential, Senate, and House results all have left candidates getting more votes than the right ones?

Republicans gained seats in the House, the Senate is split in half and Republicans held state seats. I don't think radical changes are coming.

Correct, yet you spoke about what people want, not what the system results in.

While I certainly don't think that the US population is clamouring for full luxury gay space communism now, the people overall definitely do seem to want politics to be further left than it is.

The results reflect the will of the people. If there's a bunch of socialists out there that are clambering for change in that direction, then they should have voted. The election results suggest otherwise. Otherwise, Bernie Sanders would be the president elect right now.

To a point. The paradox of American politics is that the people want social services and government benefits, but they don't want to pay the taxes to support the largess for which they clamor. In general.

Omar trailed Biden in her counties by 10 points. AOC trailed Biden by 12 points in the Bronx, matched him in Queens. Pressley beat Biden by 5 points. Tlaib beat Biden in her county by 8 points (but I haven't found results by district yet, and her district is much smaller than her county). There's no conclusion to be drawn there. AOC's contention that progressives beat moderates is completely undermined by Simpson's paradox. If there are any progressives or socialists who won in counties or districts where Biden lost, I've yet to hear about them.

The results reflect the will of the people as much as the system will allow. Gerrymandering, state size imbalances, and the Electoral College don't make results *more* reflective of the will of the people.

If it reflects the will of the people then the mirror must have come from a funhouse.
