Oh, and not being able to use ethic, and gendered, and gender-identity slurs only "kills humor" if you're a talentless unimaginative fucking hack. Or an undemanding fan of talentless unimaginative fucking hacks. Hey, I used to to think it was okay to say "tranny". Now I know it's not. I somehow manage to make people laugh without it. Because I'm not a talentless unimaginative fucking hack. Talentless unimaginative hacks have cried about "PC being the death of comedy" since the fucking 80's. Hasn't happened yet. The whiners shitty careers ended though. That's what they were really crying about. "I'm a fucking hack! I can't compete against smart people! Don't take lazy turd comedy away from me! ". We did. And they're done. And good riddance. Good. Fucking. Riddance.
So they don't suit your taste. Doesn't mean they are anybody's oppressor. It is okay to say whatever the fuck you want. If I don't like it, my option is to stop listening. Alright, Amy Schumer. Tell us more about the real definition of comedy. Will the next riff be about brilliant comedians who never succeed because they couldn't find a smart enough audience?
What action is being taken now? The only person in this thread demanding that certain people be a protected class above criticism or insult is you, insisting people that say stupid or offensive shit deserve special protection.
George Carlin got just about everything he had due. Bill Hicks only didn't get the love he should have because he fucking died. All the ones bawling about being cancelled are riff-raff assbags I don't miss. And not a one of them could carry Carlin or Hicks's water bottles.
Either you don't understand that Diacanu was suggesting something more than growing a thicker skin when confronted with offensive speech, or you are willfully ignoring it because you thought that question would make you sound clever. Neither is exactly a flattering look. Show me where I have done that, you lying shitweasel. Verbatim quote. Passage and verse.
And he also said things that would get you "cancelled" now. Carlin would never frame every performance with some overt display of modern, progressive sentiment the way it is expected of everyone now. He's not gonna divide everything into easily-digestible "good guys" vs "bad guys" to make it more comfortable for the sort of stunted children who cannot withstand any challenge to their worldview, and you goddamned well know it.
Such as? I mean, he did a bit with all the slurs in it, but he framed the context, and the bit was about context. Meatheads like Rogan can't pull that off.
Anything more aggressive than a lullaby sung by kittens gets taken as me allowing my chain to be yanked, and promptly hulking out. Any reaction at all, really. "I disagree." "Ha ha we totally pushed your buttons and made you rage." You people must walk around like full-body diaper rashes, to be that sensitive.
Where have I claimed that I was prevented? Can we all ask useless fucking questions and pretend we've contributed?
In your opinion, all of it. You are not the arbiter of these things. If anyone takes offense, then he has done something offensive. Don't you dare deny me the agency of my truth! Or maybe we could acknowledge the concepts of subjectivity and free association, rather than focusing our energy on scouring everything we see and hear for a single offensive word to be used as the reason why someone must lose their job and never find work again.
I didn't say you were. I asked you whether you were. A basic understanding of English as a First Language is your friend. As opposed to making self-serving pronouncements? You seldom ask anything. But you're damn facile about telling others what they're allowed to say within your presence. Now, dial the rage up a bit more.
No, you asked "who," implying that someone had. A mastery of English does you no good if your buffer memory can't hold a 5 minute conversation, "wordsmith." A pointless endeavor with someone like you.
"Shit" is offensive in most polite contexts, but it won't get me cancelled. Ditto "piss, cock, dildo, hardon, turd, jackoff, jerkoff, pecker, ass, asswipe.." I could go on for a couple pages. The shit that'll get you cancelled occupies far less of a page though. Ain't it funny how the alleged not-bigots want to use those soooo fucking bad without consequence? I just find that interesting.
No, you were supposed to end it somehow with "ripped into little bitty pieces, and then buried aliiiiive!!". So that "reach out" by Cheap Trick would start to play, and I could air-guitar along to it. Party pooper.
You sashayed in here with your grievances in a three-ring binder, which suggested something more than the usual bug was up your ass. Why do you and @Tererun seem to think a word I chose to describe myself is somehow an insult?
Ever try to tell a four-year-old not to say certain words in front of their grandparents? First chance they get, they'll march around the room chanting those words at the top of their lungs. @Uncle Albert is a toddler. Tell him not to do something and he'll do it AS OFTEN AND AS LOUDLY AS HE CAN. Best way to corral him is to say "Oh, Diddums learn a new word today? Say it again, Albert. Go tell your grandmother what you just learned!" He'll clam up and sulk in a corner with steam coming out of his ears.
For as long as I can remember, 50+/- years, minorities have been marginalized, red-lined, kept out of jobs, businesses, and recreational areas. The left has tried to get through the apathy of those who do nothing. But we’ve failed. Legal attempts have failed. As a last resort, we try to teach children in hopes the next generation will end the systemic oppression of anyone not white, cis, straight, and christian. It’s an attempt to stop apathy for those who are not like ... the apathetic. These problems exist. You specifically didn’t do anything detrimental, but we (society) needs to end assholes from doing as they please. It’s too bad people take that as an attack, but at least they aren’t in danger because of skin color, religion, sexual preferences, or gender.
You guys think you know someone by what’s posted on message boards? There’s more than one reason social media is destructive. And inability to gage someone’s true intentions is very difficult via text. This is why so many companies offer communications training on ways to write emails without pushing people off. It may help to understand there’s a real person on the other end of your posts.
