Anyone can make an argument seem valid despite it being full of flaws. Well ..., maybe not anyone, but a lot of people. So, lets say, I have a favorite MMA female fighter. She's won many fights, sure, she's lost a couple, but, mostly, she's good and she wins. Then, she loses a fight to a trans woman. HEY!!! That's not fair. So, now, I make an argument about this one fighter who beat my fighter, but instead of directing to that one fighter, I make sweeping blanket statements for all trans-fighters. Just because there MAY be issues with Fallon Fox, does not mean all trans women fall into that same category. So, no. Joe does not have a point.
Yep. Putting on a veneer of intelligence and respectability is how people can't see Tucker Carlson as the Nazi he is. Even though he blows his dog whistle into a fucking megaphone.
Actually, because of the way our society is he does have a point. We are in that transition area where the huge majority of trans women developed in puberty as male. We are really just starting to prescribe the puberty blockers that would make trans women more like women in his particular sport. Listening to him he is very aware of how that development occurs medically. He is using actual scientific reasoning to make his point, and it does apply in our present situation to most trans women because of the prejudice against them coming out at a young age. He is really not wrong in what he is saying and how he is being forced to say it. In this specific case of MMA fighters we should prohibit them from competing. On one side you have the safety issue for the cis women who are going to get hurt worse because they fight with a person who developed male body traits. On the other side you cannot put them with the men because they have testosterone blockers which are going to make them weaker and that means they take more damage. This is part of the tough shit gender dysphoria trans people go through. This is legitimate. Do not kill the messenger in this case. Really listen to what he is saying without reacting. In this case, I am going to say I would say the exact same thing in the exact same way in his position. I see him using the broad brush, but it is true that society is just now starting to do the right thing and we have to evaluate the individual in this moment. This may also mean that individual cannot compete in professional sports.
When this sort of thing comes down to physics, trans women hurt themselves trying to fit into clothing that is too small. You can just look at my feet to see how I have tried to physically fit my man's foot into a woman's boot. There is no argument that it is much easier to be a ballerina if you are of a smaller frame and less weight on that point of a toe. I may be slim, but I cannot put on a tutu and have a male partner throw me around like a girl. Maybe if I was not developed in puberty as a male I might physically be able to do some of those things. Even then, probably not. I would have loved to be flung around as a cheerleader. I was not born with a body that would do that. That is being transgendered. That is the pain. That is the discomfort of watching people do what you know you should be doing, but you cannot do it that way. @Jenee that is where joe goes. It is a horrible truth that hurts, but it is the truth of our bodies. That does not entitle us to go out and maul women participating in a sport.
Yes, but how we react to trans-persons at this point will set a precedence for future generations to react to trans-persons. We didn't stop assholes from being assholes 150 years ago and we're STILL struggling with racism. We can't afford to continue allowing people time to adjust. People are people and people are different and EVERY person deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. As for MMA and Fallon Fox, ... from what I understand, she's not that big a deal. Many other female MMA fighters are much better fighters than she is.
I'm totally on board with male and female bodies being different. and yes, post puberty without puberty blockers, transwomen can be taller and larger than most ciswomen. But, that's not universal. Fallon Fox was not even in the highest weight class, nor is she in the lowest. Fox had her gender reassignment surgery in 2006 and her first professional MMA fight in 2012.
But that is the thing, MMA is in rogan's immediate area. It is not like he picked out some rando trans person to attack. He talks about MMA so of course he is going to talk about this person. He really does not bring it to the rest of the community except when they want to say it is ok for the fighter to be abusive. Sometimes the truth hurts, and that is what gender dysphoria is. The truth is hurting you. You have the wrong body. It is not something that can be fixed all the way and that is the hurt.
What joe talks about is there is just this advantage of having really big hands, and he says things about how nerves and muscles react quicker in men and he actually cites studies. Some of this may actually be nurture and not nature. Maybe we present males a different path that causes different neural associations to develop in the formative years of children's neurology. He has actually educated himself to an expert level and is using his expertise in his field where it should be applied. He is even explaining his reasoning with proper terminology and you can see his understanding of the issues if you are understanding biochemical and physiological facts.,
So...is Tererun a self-hating TERF now? Or does she have to go a bit further down the rabbit hole? Does it have to always go to Blaire White levels?
Don'cha love watching Dickynoo explain to a trans woman how she's doing it wrong? Isn't that just the greatest thing?
The hand/nerve/quicker reflexes thing has already been addressed with the discussion regarding hormones. Men click pens quicker than women can. This has been studied. Post surgery, post hormone therapy, transwomen click a pen slower than their own previous scores - and they don't just do this once, it's a part of the entire process. This is how professionals know and show that post surgery and post hormonal therapy, transwomen are not so different than ciswomen. and, no, it's not just clicking a pen. There is a whole host of tests studied during the entire process.
He made up his mind long ago that Joe Rogan is transphobic. He’s not going to listen to what Joe says because Joe’s transphobic. See how the circular logic works?
As a person who has done reffing and worked on professional safety measures I just see him making his point. I understand a lot of those things also, and really WTF is she doing in there anyway? There is a lot of other things you could be doing aside from fighting people. MMA is abusive and aggressive to begin with, and trying to keep people safe while they beat each other up is going to be problematic. His position, perspective, knowledge, and reason for saying what he said all resonate with my experience.
here is the definition of harmful cancel culture. I used to think it could not exist, but thank you for proving me wrong. I must have been high as fuck pie when I thought the left would always listen to reason.
p'shaw. we're all about reason. we can handle more than 1 variable though so it may seem confusing to you.
what @steve2^4 said. seriously, the right flips out over WAP, or a kids book they never read not being sold anymore because of racist imagery, or spider man being black. The left has it's problems, but OMG you right wingers cannot take anything but bland.
I don't disagree with any of that. But, I also do not have that aggressive trait. So, I don't know why ANYONE would choose to get into an MMA cage.
Yep, you're cancelled all right. I can't even see your posts anymore. I'm not even responding to this. Where's Tererun? What happened to her? Did she die? Well, that's too bad. She could be a dipshit sometimes, but I kinda liked her. Such a shame. Tch... ()
Governor Ron DeSantis FOR THE WIN bitches! Leadership experience coupled with youth? He's the full package for HMIC. Republican Gov. DeSantis is taking credit as Florida booms a year into pandemic (msn.com)
John Oliver did that piece on him last weekend. The guy was born and raised in La Jolla, aka right near the same neighborhood where our own lil Dinner was raised. They're close enough in age to possibly attended school together. So....yeah. two republican presidents out of California were more than enough. We do t need a third. :|
Re: Joe Rogan, even if one wanted to believe him in a "he's right for the wrong reasons" sorta way, then it should be easy enough to find non-bigots who have facts and figures to support the claim and spin it in a way that doesn't support transphobia. You can't find it, cuz there ain't no such animal.
Tucker is an heir to the Swanson TV dinner family fortune, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he and dinner did not go to the same school. Also, this music video manages to combine both dinner and Fight Club, before either were a thing.
