While I don't disagree with what you're saying, I don't see BLM types kicking off a national or even regional SHTF crisis so much as the large minority of people currently pushing a narrative that vilifies intellectuals, science, the rule of law, and the fucking electoral process. Those people are who worry me.
Both worry me. Why does one have to take precedence over another? Or are you just adding to the list of reasons the average person shouldn’t have unfettered access to guns?
You forgot one important step Jenee - THE BACKGROUND CHECK yeah it can be a game changer as it should be.
No, those are NFA weapons and access is fettered to hell and back for them. That's like a six+ month background check, a $200 tax stamp, and that's before you have to shell out the tens of thousands of dollars for the firearm its self.
so why are you so concerned about "assault weapons" when almost all (the largest percentage by far) of the total gun crimes are committed with handguns, shotguns, and other common simple guns?
Not shotguns. Handguns period. More people are beaten to death bare handed every year than killed by all long guns combined.
Yes that makes sense - handguns are easy to conceal. So that enforces my point even better. Why are so many people wrapped around the axle over black scary "military" looking weapons?
Why does a civilian need to own a functioning assault weapon that is designed to kill multiple people quickly?
Aside from the term "assault weapon", you've just described every firearm that isn't a single-shot, up to and including a double barrel shotgun.
Because multiple people might be trying to harm you or your family. Pretty damn simple formula IMHO. BTW an easy to buy AR-15 for example isn't a battlefield weapon - it's not even fully automatic. It doesn't even have a limited yet fully automatic burst function. It functions just like many hunting/sporting rifles.
Oh, see, I thought it was because some people just have a massive boner for cool-looking guns (or guns they used in combat) and hate being told what they can and cannot have.
Then it isn’t “unfettered” is it? But, seriously, what does it check? Did it prevent the Las Vegas shooting? Or any of the other mass shootings perpetrated by an adult, rather than a child that got hold of his parent’s guns and shot up school bullies.
I thought the argument was that criminals can steal guns, so gun purchasing restrictions aren't needed or useful. So why are we fettering those military weapons? Couldn't someone just steal one?
Absolutely, but the criminal mind tends towards a higher level of thinking or they wind up in prison or worse. This population needs guns to do their day job. The weekend warriors, not so much. It's much safer this way.
The AR15 is not a military weapon unless you are literally a ragtag third world army or militia. It's not full auto, as explained several times already.
Doesn't sound like the kind of thing you might want to defend yourself against a tyrannical government. And yet we're constantly told having one is vital to such efforts.
"we're" constantly being told? Who are the "we" in this case? Do "they" tell you this in your country? And just who are the people telling you that AR15 style weapons are vital to defending yourself against the government? Nobody ever told me this and I live here. Maybe I need to check all my e-mails. Please provide names and specific quotes backing up your claim. Not saying you aren't right, but if memory serves a few days ago you claimed that Greg Gutfeld said he wanted Putin to harm Biden, but law enforcement and the Secret Service said you were full of shit. Gutfeld is still on the air and the whole incident was a delusional nothing burger, swallowed by a few feeble minded members of the ever gullible left.
