Details of individual situations are irrelevant, because the biggest supporters of this bill wanted to remove any discretion on the part of teachers and schools.
Thank the teachers who want to abuse that discretion by treating a class full of five year olds as a captive audience for their opinions.
Funny, the only time I was ever captive to a teacher's personal opinions was in high school in detention, and it was racist shit. Funny story about that detention, I was punished for going to the library to actually learn instead of to study hall to stare at the yellow walls and have paper airplanes thrown at me. So my punishment was to stare at the yellow walls, and have paper airplanes thrown at me. And to listen to a racist. A fat one. Who smelled like he was dipped in coffee. I don't remember some shrieking Karen coming to save me. Funny.
Which no-one has proved is fucking happening, at least outside of isolated cases. But the GOP are the ones creating restrictive laws and suddenly you're lapping THAT piss off the floor.
The only teachers who do that are the right wing propagandists. Helping a kid who is GLBT to find some resources to help them out at their request is not pushing an agenda. Spouting racist, homophobic views, christian propaganda, and republican alternative facts is indoctrination into lies, and is the only reason a right winger would ever be a teacher. Their projection is admitting their motives.
They're not just prohibiting it. They're using it to justify overly restrictive stuff. The GOP is supposed to be against governmental overreach, but I guess when it hurts minorities or the left, they're all fucking for it.
"Hurt" being a restriction on your ability to propagandize five year olds against the parents' wishes.
But telling lies about history in a voucher school is a-okay, because those parents want that. Oh, and guess what, your tax money will pay for the racist voucher school too, so....
NOT happening. "Hurt" being not able to make a 5-year old feel normal when other kids query why they have two moms. Fuck what the other kids' parents feel. If your kid was at a school primarily composed of African-Americans and they asked why he had white skin and white parents, you'd be fine with the teacher being banned from "discussing whiteness"? Even if your kid felt alienated and suicidal over it? I mean, this is a hypothetical - we all know you'll raise YOUR kid to be an emotionless cyborg uber-cunt just like you, you big stoic warrior of manliness.
Because when you agree with a sentiment, it ceases to be propaganda. Like it or not, that is a conversation for the parents, regardless of whether you can rely on them to recite from your preferred script. If they are suicidal, they require mental health intervention, tobe obtained by parents. I love you, too, sweet cheeks. :mwah:
Propaganda= saying pledge of allegiance to the American flag Not propaganda= saying pledge of allegiance to the gay flag.
In fascist paranoia land, not being allowed to queer bash = saying a pledge to a gay flag. "What!? I can't beat up the boy in makeup? Why don't I just go suck a cock then!! ".
Hurt is what UA and @Federal Farmer want to do against GLBT children. They pretend the parents are making the choice when every time it is the children who make the choice for themselves and the real groomers are UA and FF who are grooming right wing fascists to enter people's homes and abuse GLBT children while throwing their parents into prison for life. The two of you are disgusting fascists who hate freedom. Don't lie and pretend you are protecting kids by abusing them. People like to complain about me having been named in a suicide letter. We should note that UA and FF have been specifically named in thousands of GLBT suicide letters as the abusive fascists who torture these children to death. These policies are only there to abuse and kill GLBT kids through torture. FF and UA love this sort of thing.
He knows the reality that he wants more suicides and mental trauma for GLBT and brown kids. The cruelty is the point. They need a way to target the allies because they are anti-libertarians. They hate liberty because it gives happiness to non-WASP males.
Ah, so UA acknowledges mental health damage CAN exist. But he thinks parents don't ever inflict it. Cute.
'Inflict' may not be the right term, and parents sure as fuck do not hold a monopoly on it. I dealt with some child-hating asshole school faculty in my day. Regardless, you don't get to preemptively cut parents out of the process, under the assumption they will not recite the prescribed lines you have deemed "correct. " And let's cut the shit here. The motivation is about 1% for protecting the mental health of at-risk youths, and 99% forced indoctrination of a captive audience with a very specific political agenda, taking extra delight when they are also doing it against a parent's wishes.
No, the GOP legislation is about letting the right KIND of schools do that, whilst stamping on those that won't. We don't take delight in helping kids understand that their right-wing parents are wrong. I'd rather they could be more interested in helping their kids instead of harming them. You think it's not gonna lead to a broken family either way? At least if there's some support outside the family, the kid might not blame themself. The right-wing absolutely take delight in inflicting mental harm on kids and their parents. Ask this father: https://www.motherjones.com/politic...ng-care-criminalization-alabama-texas-police/
You'd crumble to pieces. And you know this after conducting a thorough examination. That, or the glob of pork shoulder you call a brain told you all of this. Sitting in a room. All by itself. Hey, let's get kooky, and go with that second one. For some reason, it seems like the Occam's razor choice.
Y'know, I really hate to tell you, but ABCs and 123s is a captive audience with a political agenda. Kids hate school, if it were up to them, they'd play video games all day, and the political agenda is stupid people can't run the fucking machines.
So we've gone from them arguing it's not a don't say gay bill to openly arguing that even if it isn't it should be. You fucking Muppets.
Here's the scary text from the actual bill: I guess I'd wonder why this wasn't already in place. The rest of the law simply states that the schools can't do anything to impact the well-being of the student without parental notification and/or approval. But, sure, the mainstream media's going with "Don't Say Gay" and not "Parental Rights in Education." No bias there. This opposition seems similar to the opposition to the anti-CRT stuff: "We're not teaching that and you parents have no right to stop us!" Go with that, and you'll face electoral consequences. People get, uh, touchy when you fuck with their kids.
I feel bad for all the teachers in FL (most of whom are female) who have to work in an environment that assumes they are there to push a political agenda. Snowflakes thy name is Republican Party.
There's a pledge of allegiance to the gay flag? You assholes, why have none of you told me about this?
I agree that this seems to be blown out of proportion. My understanding is that the law says you can't teach about gender identity/sexual orientation in the classroom, but unless I'm reading it wrong, it doesn't say a teacher can't have a conversation with a student about it. Okay, but most of the anti-CRT laws don't even mention CRT. Don't they boil down to "You can't teach anything that might make a student feel uncomfortable or guilty"? That seems hella broad, which is where "parents have no right to stop us" would come in. Geometry made me feel uncomfortable and guilty. Did my mom have the right to forbid teaching about the pythagorean theorem in Geometry class?
