notably, it doesn't tell us who is holding back the movie being released.
it kind of hints that it's Foxx himself between what he and Jeremy Piven are quoted as saying.

My thought is it is probably Foxx pushing for a theatrical release because his streaming profits were not negotiated well at the time. 2018 was the time when theater related profits were still prioritized over streaming profits and the theaters seem to want to dump lacking IPs to streaming rather than piss off the people still willing to watch stuff in the theaters. I would imagine they probably want to drop that into streaming and the actors simply do not profit as much or at all for that so they are objecting.

OTOH white chicks and RDJ's role in Tropic Thunder are cringy now. I love RDJs character in Tropic Thunder because it represents the entitlement and bullshit of getting a white actor to play a black man in a world of black actors. I do not know if it could be made now, but the whole idea of the character is how stupid the excuses are for blackface. Foxx playing a white cop is going to alienate a huge chunk of whypipo. I would imagine it is over the top and probably funny, but I think that controversy is old enough it is not going to attract as many people as it alienates. Do it on your own for a smaller audience and do not kill a movie with it.

OTOH Day shift was a great ride, and I really like Foxx as the sort of everyman action hero. Oh, and movies need more Snoop Dog.

Anyone who says they were a Roger Waters fan until he became "woke" was never a Roger Waters fan. The man has been speaking up against capitalism his entire life.

Anyone who says they believe in freedom of speech, a journalist perhaps, and yet is okay with this; they were never a believer in free speech. We saw this same shit with Civid "misinformation" on social media.

This has nothing to do with his "wokeness," it has everything to do with his delusional and frankly evil stance on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

I just saw Roger Waters two weeks ago when he came through Van, had killer seats:

Roger isn't "woke" he's always been very political to the point where people have accused him of being anti-Semitic. At the beginning of his concert he literally tells people that if they don't like his politics then they can fuck off and leave the stadium

While I don't share many of his views I can get past it - he puts on a great fucking show and is an excellent entertainer

I don't think he's pro-Russia necessarily. I think he's incredibly anti nuclear weapon and thus opposes anything quite vehemently that could lead to nuclear war

Oh, there's plenty evil in Ukraine, but it's the west's latest comfort blanket, and so their Nazis get glossed over. Waters is correct. That doesn't make him pro-Russia, it makes him as he's always been: anti-war, and anti-nuclear weaponry. The US is throwing its dick around and someone's going to slap it hard. I'm telling you, the US isn't your ally. The more resources it loses from its ventures in Africa, Central, and South America, the more it will grip vassal nations to provide for it.

It's heavily discouraged in the news media, yeah. It's called Russian propaganda by the mainstream news media despite the very same news media talking about it at length between 2014 and 2018. For a while they were having trouble finding anyone in the Ukrainian military to post pictures of without Nazi tattoos. Now, though, it's okay, because the black sun is totally not Nazis, guys, and even if it is, there's only a few of them, and even if there's a lot of them, they're not in charge, and even if they are in charge, Zelenskyy's Jewish, and that means saying there's Nazis in Ukraine is being anti-Semitic. Just follow the bouncing ball.

    It does.

If this were Trump handling Ukraine, you better believe many (though certainly not all of) the same people would be pointing out his willingness to work with Nazis.

It's like when Trump had kids in cages. People were enraged.
The thing is, Obama had kids in cages. Once I found that out, my opinion of Obama plummeted.
Now Biden has kids in cages, and all we've done each time is rename the cages. Who in the news still talks about the kids in cages?

No offense, @Bill Carson but I'm sure there will come times when you think I'm being ridiculous.
@Diacanu, there are going to be times when you think I'm being ridiculous.

I cannot help if what I say agrees with you or disagrees with you, only that I did my best to verify its accuracy. Sometimes that makes people angry. Nothing I can do about it, unless I decide to say nothing at all. Believe me, I'm used to being called a communist by Republicans, and a Putin or Trump supporter by Democrats (don't feel bad, the GOP call Biden a communist, too). Politics in the US only has two outlets, and if you're not part of either, then both sides will, at some point, love you or hate you based on what their itching ears get to hear.

Kids in cages will be brought to the forefront of the media again when the next GOP president takes power.
The Ukraine war will get a boost by Republicans if it's still going on when the next GOP president takes power.

So don't worry, those of you who are Democrats will find yourselves agreeing with me when a Republican takes office, because it will seem like I'm now on your side, too.

Also, it's less a horseshoe and more a fish hook.

Sadly there are Nazis in Russia as Nazis exist in every country, part of the US desire to bring the Nazis on board for our own projects, and putting them in positions of power with NATO, it gave the Nazi ideology that much more room to breathe. So we have to deal with the fallout from that today. That said, Ukraine has a large contingent of Nazis, Ukraine celebrates Stepan Bandera, and there's an official holiday. Zelenskyy himself has lauded Bandera, which would be like a communist defending Henry Kissinger. Before 2018, major media publishers wrote many articles on the increasing power of Nazis in Ukraine, but when the US decided to chose to take a side, those articles were considered Russian propaganda, because in our media circle, truth can only exist if it agrees with the current domestic political climate.

As for Trump and Putin? They may be friends, I don't really know. As I've said in the past I have no love for Putin, I don't support him, he's a man who wants the days of the Tsars again, and while Russia's imperialism doesn't even approach the level of audacious and crass self-serving folderol the US employs, it's still something that must be watched. When I talk about Russia invading Ukraine, I don't have to like it or agree with it to understand it. Forces within Ukraine were sending ordinance, daily, down on the people of Donetsk, Luhansk, and the Donbas region in general because there were Russian separatists there.

That all got drowned out when the US and its chest beating "you're either with us or against us" war footing took hold, and we started sending more money to Ukraine to "help" the people there (Zelenskyy is a billionaire (or multi-millionaire depending upon what sources you find), I'm sure he can afford to help) while people right here in the US can't pay rent or buy medicine. Enough money to end hunger in the US for everyone, for a decade, easily. These are details that get glossed over, skipped, ignored, by both parties, because both parties are guilty of engaging in this same war racket time and time again. To put it another way, when it comes to our foreign policy: "Red or Blue, the bombs will never stop falling on you."

I realize that's a long winded bit of answering, but I have this glimmer of hope that some day people will actually understand what I'm saying and not what they think I might be saying if I rephrased everything just a little bit here and there, and a-HA I'm a Putin puppet. You know what I mean?

There's Nazis everywhere. There's Nazis in every since country in the world. There's plenty of Nazis in America, but if Putin sent goons to rape and murder you and your family I'd have no trouble seeing who was in the wrong there despite who else might live in your town.
I'm sure all those dead Ukrainian civilians are thrilled to know the mass graves the Russians tossed them into aren't radioactive. Because that would be unacceptable. :bergman:
Funny how the topic was Russia invading another country and you ended up complaining about "the US throwing it's dick around." It's almost like your hatred of America blinds you to everything else. :chris:

Waters is anti-nuclear? OK. So why is he calling out the Ukrainians, instead of the Russians, who not only have threatened overtly, publicly to use nuclear weapons multiple times now that they are losing their invasion and genocide, but also have targeted nuclear plants with missiles and forced the nuclear plant technicians to leave one plant in order to threaten Ukraine with a potential nuclear meltdown? A threat so real the IAEA had to step in?

    This is ridiculous tankie shit.

Ukraine is no threat to Russia. If Russia leaves Ukraine, there is peace. If Urkaine capitulates, there is no more Ukraine.

And Russians have already committed one genocide on Ukraine in the last 100 years, killing between 3-5 million in the forced terror famine the Holodomor. Then a cultural genocide is they banned teaching the Ukrainian language and culture in Soviet School in Ukraine.

A 'both sides' would be absolutely ridiculous.

But this goes beyond 'both sides', doesn't it?

Yes, the US has the right to determine legal immigration through its border, and that can mean processing unaccompanied children until they can be placed. Why? Because when an earlier iteration under Obama they tried the humane thing to get them through as quickly as possible, and that resulted in thousands of children being released to human traffickers. It is far better to keep these kids until they can be released to a safe environment.

Now compare that to Russia, who is committing war crimes by going into a sovereign nation and stealing children for deportation and adoption in Russia.

Who says so? Well, the UN for one.
