CA's "WARN" law requires Twitter to give you 60 days notice of a massive layoff.

A layoff of 50+ employees within a 30 day period qualifies.

First half of this episode is on the Twitter deal and just how badly Musk is fucked. The banks who loaned him the money are treating it like a giant subprime mortgage. There's some complex financials that the hosts talk about that they're not certain they got completely right, but it looks like to break even on the deal, Twitter is going to have to be worth at least 3 times what Musk paid for it. That doesn't seem likely.

The hosts mention that since the Saudis are big investors in the company, the Saudis will have access to all kinds of analytical data, etc. that they otherwise wouldn't be. I'm wondering what it cost the Saudis. They didn't so much contribute cash but rolled their shares over into stakes in the new company. I don't know what they might have paid for their shares (nearly 35 million). Depending upon when they invested in the company, it might have been a huge chunk of change, or a modest amount. Wonder how much it would be worth to them to ruin the guy responsible for one of the largest electric car companies in the world?

It is a two pronged attack. The guy who was killed, khashoggi, was killed because of his argument that social media like Twitter was going to infiltrate the muslim world and ruin their right wing propaganda. It was going to cause those people to demand more rights and stray away from the hold religion has over them.

I may not like twitter, but it is a huge way to see other foreign people and events directly without the filter of the news media. With AI translating better and better you can actually read our words over there, and they do not want the masses on both sides of wars and conflicts to humanize the other side or see their struggle. It causes empathy and shows that the common people's blood is spilled while the rich and powerful lose very little.

They funded Elon to buy twitter and set up these global sattelite communications so they can filter what we see, and what most saudi people see while spewing propaganda.
