The "multiverse" in the latest Doctor Strange film consisted of basically two universes, with a whole bunch of other ones that get flashed on screen for a few seconds at most. Rip. Off.

And I'm kinda of... meh? I mean, I like all those characters individually. But when it comes to powers, you have 4 super soldiers, an assassin, and someone who can phase. That's not exactly a dynamic team - almost all of them do the exact same thing. Plus they don't have a single character that was actually in the original Thunderbolts. Taskmaster and fake cap were in it later. I'm hoping Valentina works for Zemo in this incarnation. Though they've created a version of the character to this point that would be vehemently opposed to this lineup. Fixer was in Spiderman - Homecoming. He'd be an easy port. The Swordsman? He was fantastic in Hawkeye. Later members have been in properties that the MCU now has the rights to - Bullseye, Lady Deathstrike, and Norman Osborn. And Venom is out there and could be brought in, just like Spiderman was. Hell, introduce Doc Ock - the female version is a great character too. Anyway, guess we'll see what they do with it.
Be interesting to see how they use Ross/Ford in Cap 4. That might give us some clues - especially as looks like the Leader will be the big bad in that one, and that could easily be a segue to Red Hulk. Honestly, to this point I'm more interested in that one, especially as they will be having Isiaah Bradley in it as well. Guess we'll see how it pans out.
Yep... seems like the MCU is starting to rummage through the bargain bin. Although it worked out really well for the lesser-known Guardians of the Galaxy, so who knows?
Yeah, that character list makes it feel rushed. Which is weird for the MCU, which is traditionally so patient about setting things up.
Sure. Then change the name, because he's a different character, right? I get the need for representation, and even outside the social positives it's also good business. I just look askance at taking characters that are 80 years old and saying 'They are POC now.' Is that representation? The first time a kid goes looking for info on his new favorite, he's going to see a white guy from a greek myth. Because that is still the character in the comics. I think if you want representation, you'd want actual representation.
I enjoyed it overall. They probably could have trimmed 20 minutes off but it was above average for Marvel movies. Of the current phase of movies I would put it above Thor, Dr. Strange, and certainly Black Widow.
Not only this, but Namor in this movie is yet another instance of taking a name and a broad but shallow set of characteristics from a character well established in his original medium and then going off on some half-assed bad fanfic version of him. There was no good reason to jettison the whole Atlantis backstory. It's the same shit they did with The Eternals.
