I should point out that hypothetically in a free America, someone could get paid for anonymously blogging critiques of government. Under this bill, that person would have to divulge their identity to the government or face up to $2,500 in fines for every alleged failure to report each blog post.

I should also point out that if an equivalent law had existed back in early America, someone could go after half the Founders for what they wrote.

If you receive $600 or more from any one company and you are a sole proprietor or an LLC taxed as an S Corporation, the IRS gets a 1099 that includes every payment issued to you.

Contributions to people's campaigns are disclosed on quarterly filings with either the FEC or the secretary of state's office, depending on whether the office is federal or state/local.

These days I wouldn't even try and predict an election result that far in advance. We don't know for sure if DeSantis is even running and we don't know if he would win the Republican Primary if he did. Disney World doesn't need a special tax anymore. And teachers private lives or opinions aren't why kids go to school. Parents having more of a say of what their child is exposed to in a classroom is a good thing. Schools are an institution of learning, not an institution of social engineering.

Most people in florida with blogs cannot afford to rack up fines for not registering so they can mention Desantis. The first step to persecution is to remove anonymity. So if this passes they can now collect the real name and address of everyone who talks about Desantis on a Florida blog. In order to prove you do not fall under the jurisdiction of the florida law you will have to reveal your real name and address to Ron's florida chronies. Hew is already collecting information on trans people, doctors, teachers, psychologists, and others involved in GLBT support and the school systems including students medical records.

That is the list of people to be persecuted. This is not a fine, this is a way to collect names of anyone who criticizes him across the country using florida law.
