I’ve seen some AI scripts. And while some show proper grammar, sentence structure, even believable exchanges, but any serious writer knows AI will never replace writers.

The reason for the strike is because the studios and actors are getting residual income for tv shows and movies that are streaming, the writers are not. THAT is what the writers strike is about.

If you think AI cannot possibly write your most popular TV shows and movies, you are a fucking moron. I love Law and Order, but the commercials for it in syndication joke about the formula for every episode. Some people die. Lenny shows up and makes a pun. They bring the info to vanburen. She makes a quip and tells them to get to work. They bring the case to jack. Some problem pops up and jack complains to grumpy old man. Grumpy old man tells him to figure it out. Jack makes speech at trial. Verdict comes in. Dramatic pause and then dick wolf pops up on a black screen. Sprinkle some details inspired by a real world case in there and some sub plot for the characters and you can do this for decades.

It is even easier if you are writing some Big Bang Theory episodes. Collect some references to nerds and string them along for a half hour with the gayest group of metrosexual fuckbags you can find and a blond chick with big boobs. Sprinkle in some overpriced worthless yuppie product placement and you have a series.

You go back to things like Threes Company, Soap Operas, and The A Team and it is all the same.

If you think an AI cannot write formulaic things you have no idea what a program does. There is no actual intelligence. It is just an algorithm that adjusts the outcome to please the most people through learning what people respond to.

Yeah, the AI war doesn't happen in an instant, like Terminator; it happens in a slow buildup of meat-humans being bigots to robots like in the Animatrix prequel to Matrix.

As interesting as that idea is I figure the real reason the writers want to stop AIs from writing is they know it will allow non-writers to be able to capitalize on their ideas. There is a reality that the writers guilds keep jobs going to their people and eliminate competition like SAG does. Yes, I want them to get paid decently for their work, but they also have created an organization of elites where you need to get permission and approved to enter into it. It is not like I could pay dues to join the guild and then be able to get work at the rate of the guild.

SAG and the writers guild have long been a way to keep hollywood elites hollywood elites. That has also kept reasonable people from getting their works into the spotlight because you just cannot get seen or hired without being approved. It is not like other guilds where people with skills can be hired and guild membership comes along with being hired.

You imagine there'd be this tidal wave of amazing content if the gatekeepers were gone.

I did not say there would be quality. I said there would be opportunity. Don't adopt UA and the boy's reading comprehension. The reality is there would be more opportunity for non-elites to put out the same crap the elites do. By elites I mean those who have the money to push others out and not elite production people.

If you think that elite artists make it ahead in hollywood because of merrit you are in a bigger fantasy world than UA. The people who got on TV and into the movies for a long time were all insiders and they were the gatekeepers who not only kept nobodies out, but stole their ideas when they thought they were good. The entire thing was also built on who was willing to suck people like weinsteins dick. Every one of these metoo women coming out complaining that they were forced to suck cock were the ones willing to suck cock to get ahead, while any person who turned their nose up at the owners of hollywood found themselves shown the door.

Also, if you do look at the history of a lot of classic titles considered good you often find the creators were already on the inside, but they had to fight to get their pet projects done because the money really just wanted to produce by formula.
