There have been umpteen studies that have shown that masking, social distancing, lockdowns, etc. weren't fully effective because a significant portion of the global population -- including politicians -- were too fucking stupid to follow the advice of medical experts and scientists. (Bolded and underlined for the mentally impaired like FF.) The efficacy of such measures were greatly reduced in countries like the United States because you had at least 1/4 of the population that thought (still thinks) Donald Trump is the messiah and masks are stupid and "don't tell me what to do!" and FREEDUMB!!!1!
And this line from the Reason article is just delicious: Are they talking about vaccines or abortions? 'Cause it seems to me the anti-vax morons tend to be in the same camp as the "pro-life" morons, and they're just fine telling you what you can do with your body when you're a poor female and pregnant.
Logically, FF should be fine with vaccine mandates as long as they are enforced at the state level. But I'll bet dollars to whatever-the-fuck-sandwiches-FF-serves he isn't.
Indeed. Masking does no good when the people wearing masks have them around their chins. Social distancing is useless when people ignore most of it, and don't mask. Lockdowns weren't really a thing for more than a few weeks before companies found loopholes around them, and yet the idea persists that lockdowns were a constant pressure upon an oppressed populace. USians went through some of the most minor inconveniences, and cried bloody murder. It was a joke of a containment.
Basically, this argument is like saying "seat belts don't save lives because some people don't wear them." Ironic that a publication called "Reason" should have so much trouble with basic reasoning skills.
Oh. my. God. Is that what your issue with Fauci is? Are you fucking kidding me?? It's his fucking job to tell government officials the dangers posed to the health of the populace. He did his fucking job. It is the job of the government to act on that information. and shut down schools and factories and business and churches and restaurants. THAT'S THE FUNCTION OF GOVERNMENT you idiotic, history major not knowing shit about history or government, bigoted moron.
Was the NYT afraid that their reputation for bothsidesing the hell out of everything would be endangered if they pointed out the inverse relationship between death rates and vaccination rates in this story?
I mean duh? There are a lot more people who have mild cases so there will be a lot more people who get long COVID from it. Same way there are more people getting COVID who are vaccinated than those who aren't. The article even says "We found that patients who were hospitalized for COVID-19 had a greater risk of developing long COVID – and of having longer-lasting symptoms – compared with people who had not been hospitalized." Shittiest damn headline.
One person in Ohio is shitting so much COVID into the sewer system that it's showing up in the analysis. https://twitter.com/unangbangkay/status/1666242162735087616
Like a regular Covid Corey. Thanks for shitting out the pandemic, COVID Corey! Anyway, a reminder about some fun studies regarding COVID and host manipulation, where COVID changes behavioral triggers in the brain, including psychosis, hallucination, and more recently it may be found to influence risk assessment in the host. That means, among many other things, a person would likely feel less need to prevent spreading the virus. Source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9416515/ So please continue masking, and if you aren't, you really should, if not for yourself then for people who are disabled and whose immune systems can't handle the extra viral load.
Our new CDC thinks it's funny to implement draconian Covid restrictions. In the video below you can see her giggling over canceling football and putting people out of jobs. https://twitter.com/michaelpsenger/...EMAIL_ID]&mc_cid=21b7e8d20d&mc_eid=905cfeafa8 She sounds like a teenager high school girl. https://twitter.com/tlowdon/status/1664672870700662784 On education. https://www.wfae.org/politics/2023-...ndy-cohen-up-for-a-big-new-job-how-did-she-do She's a serious person who trusts the science. https://nypost.com/2023/06/04/biden...-cohen-embodies-the-worst-of-pandemic-policy/ This was never about your health, it's about control.
The current COVID plan seems to be "work through repeated infections, COVID is over" which is bad because people are still dying, and kids are being reinfected multiple times by a level 3 biohazard (West Nile, Tuberculosis) that has been shown to damage the brain, heart, lungs, nervous system, and vital organs. Anyone who is against taking basic precautions to protect not only the immuno-compromised and children but the people around them, in general, is a selfish piss baby who would rather everyone die than be slightly inconvenienced or break the illusion that everything is normal, and I don't even like the fucking CDC anymore, because they're complicit in this whole charade that makes it seem like everything is fine. So we absolutely need firm control, and yes it's about control, otherwise it wouldn't be called the Centers for Disease Control. Diseases don't care if you've got a baseball game, and if the pandemic has shown me anything, there are a lot of people who are willing to let millions of people die so they can pretend everything is fine. We never had a real shutdown. We had a few weeks of inconvenience, and then businesses found the biggest fucking loopholes to get around it and everyone opened back up again, but "cautious." We live in a bullshit country full of bullshit people who can't be arsed to give a damn anymore. COVID proved that.
