Funny - anecdotally women are better anglers because they emit a pheromone that fish like - though QI did say that's an urban myth, primarily because if a man had caught the biggest fish on record, no-one would be casting about (ha!) for a reason WHY.

She couldn't possibly be better because she used to play sports. No, it's because she is trans.

    Nah, that one is silly.

The bigger question is why there are male and female events in the first place, as there is no inherent advantage here by sex whatsoever.

I've read that it's to encourage female participation, especially in competitions that have been traditionally male-dominated.

Doesn’t matter if it’s fishing or weightlifting. Men do not and have never wanted women in their sports. They don’t even want women in their workplace. Men begrudgingly accept women’s presence in bars, but only because they might score.

I've worked at tons of places that not only valued women in the workplace, but actively gave them promotional benefits just for being women. That's a pretty broad statement you just made.

It’s an obvious broad statement. And while everyone has a story about how they’ve seen or lived situations in which a woman or women were valued. Overall, in the history of humanity, the obvious broad statement is a truism and the situation in which you put up as proof of a lie, only highlights the fact that it is the exception that proves the rule.

Just like when FF starts on about how women have always been portrayed as strong characters in movies and tv.

I’ve lived 60 years as a woman and I will tell you, all this nonsense men are now crying about how women have always been valued and men not is the epitome of whining because you can’t have your way.

Face it, the evolution of the human race and a capitalist society has allowed women to not be dependent on men. Men, on the other hand, still have a biological need for women (or sex) and they don’t like it. So, now they’re bitching.

 not feeling sorry for you guys.

Not sure why this is even an issue. I know I've mentioned here before that there was a brief period when I was in the 4th grade that I was certain I should have been born a boy. I asked several people to call me a different name and refer to me as a boy. The teacher humored me. Never called my parents. didn't send home a note. No one fucking cared.

Then there's another issue. Dissociative Identity Disorder. An alter may be "on top" and that alter may be a different gender than the body. In this situation, the absolute worst possible thing someone could do to that child is to let an abuser know their object of abuse is bringing attention to a situation.

IMHO, the best thing a teacher could / should do is 'humor' the child, but watch for any signs of abuse or neglect or ... signs that the child might actually have a gender identity disorder. THEN, and not before, should the teacher approach the parents.

This is Canada, not the fucking USA. 80% + of people here support abortion, support gay marriage. To think that parents up here shouldn't be involved in things like kids changing their pronouns or identities makes you an absolute cunt tbh

When kids don't tell there parents first, there's a reason.

and even if, to use your figures, 80% are open on the issue, that has two implications:

    A. the 80% who are supportive but the child hasn't come out to them yet will be completely understanding when they do tell them because such parents know what the score is for trans peple.

    B. the 20% who AREN'T supportive are potentially dangerous and it's a good idea to trust the child to know which is which. Or, ya know, we could just look at those kids and say "sucks to be you" - either way.

Also, "this is Canada" is somehow a lot less convincing when the most populous province is ruled by Ford Nation and he's not even the shittiest premier in the country.

There are plenty of them and they are really nice. I know a few and hang out with a few. They can tell you a fuckton of info about solar power and batteries. All the old guys around me are going to run to the lesbians if the shit hits the fan and we have to survive without power for a while. No one is going over to cooter's house with his guns and beer. This is because male friendly lesbians are all over the fucking place around here in florida. They will do your taxes, fix your toilet, and tell you where the best values are.

What they don't like is toxic male attitude. Maybe they are not friendly to you because you treat them like girls. Go see barbie until you wake the fuck up.

At the end of the day if you take parents out of the decision making process here and work to keep profound things like this regarding their children from them, essentially punishing them becisse there’s a minority of bad parents out there, support for your cause and way of life will vanish. Even left wing folk feel this way

Well this isn't a legal thing, it's just an informal school thing, right? If Charles Tucker III tells his teacher he'd rather he called Trip from now on, who's harmed by that? And if Trip doesn't want his parents to know about the change that seems to harm absolutely no one, why is it so important for the provincial government to get involved and tell his parents against his wishes? Seems to me like it's better to leave the choice to involve the parents in this particular issue up to the kid themselves.
