    It ain't just America.

Student Marie Andersen wants you to know this poster represents a condemnation of the Israeli government and not Israel, in case it's not obvious. :bergman:

She interjected insisting that the Star of David did not represent Jews but the Israeli government.

    https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/poland-p...marie-andersen-anti-semitic-sign-global-fury/

Asked about what happened on October 7, the day Hamas launched its attack on Israel, Andersen said: “Hamas were resisting the genocide and their oppression that’s happened for 75 years. And what they did to civilians is, of course, not ok but according to UN resolution it is their right to stand up for their rights and freedom.”

College campuses are not society at large. One of the things I always noticed, whenever there was a protest on campus it was rare to see undergrads at the protest. Most people were either grad/professional students, non-college locals, and outside agitators. The ones who are most vocal about from the river to the sea are not your average students, nor are they Dems/Reps. They are the illiterati.

This very revealing for 2 reasons.

    1. The Israelis do not want to let any aid into Gaza, even the paltry amount that they have agreed to. Their goal is actual starvation of the people there.

    2. Biden can basically tell them what to do and they'll do it. He could be asking for a lot more, but has chosen not to.

How far does this go? Are there any actions that the Israeli side could take that would be unacceptable to you? Any point where they would become responsible for their actions themselves rather than being able to transfer the responsibility to Hamas?

@14thDoctor thinks that the idea of Israel being subject to any restraint - even hypothetically - is funny.
Meanwhile parents in Gaza are writing their childrens names on their arms so that they can be identified after they're dead. The numbers are climbing towards a thousand dead every day and that's before the ground invasion starts amid statements that this will last for months.

We need better leaders. What sanity is around is rare, but worth highlighting.

This was an extraordinary speech by King Abdullah II of Jordan:

The First Minister of Scotland has been outstanding, particularly when compared to the craven scum inhabiting the UK parliament. Part of his family is in Gaza.

So Biden has pressured Israel to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, and has worked with the Qatari to get hostages freed which has delayed the ground invasion.

But you call out Biden as the one not doing enough? So far the only person that's been able to get Israel to do anything at all?

I think my days of taking you seriously have come to a middle, Rick. No, Biden isn't in direct control of Israel.

UN chief says Hamas massacre 'didn't happen in a vacuum'

“It is important to also recognize the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum,” Guterres said. “The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation. They have seen their land steadily devoured by settlements and plagued by violence; their economy stifled; their people displaced and their homes demolished. Their hopes for a political solution to their plight have been vanishing.”

    https://www.i24news.tv/en/news/isra...says-hamas-massacre-didn-t-happen-in-a-vacuum

But he didn't actually utter the phrase "which is why those dead kids had it comin'" so Ricky can still claim the sentiment is plausibly deniable. :bergman:

Israel could easily kill every last Palestinian in Gaza and the West Bank whenever they wish. Everything they do short of that is restraint.
Wow, do you know why they're doing that all of a sudden? I don't recall hearing about them doing that back in September. Did something change since then? If things were that grim in my province I think I'd have a lot of questions for the provincial government about how they let things get so bad, and what they plan on doing to make things better. :bergman:

Don't worry, I stopped that for you some time ago. Just about every single post you make involves lying about the one you're quoting.

Biden is indeed not in "direct control of Israel". Biden does have the ability to withhold money and weapons from them, and to leverage that to get them to do what he wants. As he just did.

Nah, you are just so fundamentally dishonest that you lie constantly, and I point it out. And notice I'm not the only one.

Biden may be able to influence Israel's leadership in some things, but that still has limits, and implying that he can get them to do whatever he wants is ridiculously, contemptibly stupid. And that's what you did, by saying that:

You are blaming Biden for what's going on, you clearly stated it.

Israel shows photos of 12 Oil Tanks with a purported half a million liters of fuel, while Hamas claims there is no fuel in Gaza and that incubators that keep babies alive are going to fail.

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/idf-says-gaza-photos-show-half-million-liters-of-fuel-held-by-hamas/

The post was published a few hours after Hamas said that a power outage at the Indonesian Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip was a “crime against humanity” and called on Arab and Muslim countries and the UN to take steps to address the crisis.

The hospital was hit by a power outage on Monday night due to a fuel shortage. Al Jazeera reported that electricity was restored during the night, but the hospital only has fuel to operate generators for 48 more hours, after which lifesaving medical devices such as respirators and incubators will cease functioning.

Channel 12 news noted that if the IDF’s assertion is true, the fuel could keep all hospitals in Gaza operating for days.

Multiple Hamas divers were confirmed dead in water off the Israel coast Monday night, after attempting to enter the country from the sea, according to reports citing the Israeli military.

A report from journalists citing the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated at least six divers were found, with the attempted incursion ongoing at Hof Zikim near Gaza.

The IDF said it had targeted a "cell" of divers at around 7:45 p.m. local time.

"IDF fighter jets struck the military compound from which the terrorists departed in the Gaza Strip. IDF forces are continuing searches in the area," an update posted to the IDF website said.

Now the IDF won't even let the brave people of Gaza get their scuba certifications? Rick is shitting himself with rage at this very moment!

So apparently Hamas needs the fuel to run the generators for the ventilation system in the extensive tunnel system (nicknamed ‘The Metro’) they have spent over $100m building under Gaza and where they are currently hiding their forces and hostages:

Israeli hostages released on Monday reported being transported through Gaza's underground tunnels. Experts say many of Israel's hostages could be located somewhere along Gaza's vast tunnel network. Hamas has a long history of using tunnels to move in and out of the Gaza Strip. And, Hezbollah emerged during Lebanon's civil war with the intention of ending Israel's occupation of southern Lebanon. With the backing of Iran, it has become the strongest military force in Lebanon, and one of the strongest militias in the region. Also, gunmen ambushed at least a dozen police officers and a local security supervisor on Monday in a coastal town near Acapulco, once a jewel of Mexico's tourism industry. Plus, Iceland strikes for women's equality.

OK, so what is Hamas doing about supplying their people with resources? It is the sort of thing you have to do so you don't end up eating gummie dicks while pitching a fit because you fucked up and started some shit you can't finish.

Seriously, we are supposed to tell Isreal they have to give power and resources to their enemy in war? From the beginning of war siege is a tactic that one side uses to win and people should expect. These are the sacrifices of going to war that you bring upon yourself and why you should think twice about other alternatives before throwing the social contract out the window.

While saying this I do appreciate Isreal has been rough on the palestinians and they may need to fight for themselves, but this is also why instead of raping and acting like a bunch of rabid animals you should have fought to secure supply lines and resources for the longer battle. You also should not have alienated other people with unacceptable brutality so that we might try to help the little babies not fearing some of that help might go to the savage evil that you are doing.
