The UN doesn't have peacemakers, they have peacekeepers. They're glorified referees. Just ask a whole fuckload of dead Rwandans about how useful they are during open hostilities.

That said, I'd love for the UN to try stepping in and running Gaza once the IDF is done obliterating the place in order to wipe out the Hamas infestation. I wanna see how the UN manages to prevent the population of Gaza from launching missiles at Israeli, to stop them from smuggling in weapons, to keep Hamas from rebuilding it's infrastructure, without resorting to violence and strict embargoes. I wanna see the people that keep claiming there are other ways to make peace in the region to try out those other ways in the real world.

Because, in the words of Dave Barry, one of the UN's main functions is blaming Israel for everything, including sunspots.

Hey, maybe the local teenage girls where you live have no problem getting impregnated and then abandoned, but in lots of other places around the world UN peacekeepers provide a priceless public service for the less fortunate.

He checked out immediately after two different people showed him that Hamas is in possession of a bunch of fuel they could easily use to save the premature babies of Gaza, after he made a big deal of what monsters the Israelis are for not supplying fuel to Gaza to power those incubators for Hamas to steal.

The previous time he ran off for a bit was after the IDF obliterated a hospital killing 500 people... once it stated to look like it wasn't the IDF, the hospital was still standing, and a lot less than 500 people appeared to have died. He was just too outraged to post, you see.
