I don't consider myself a racist but no doubt you will disagree. IIRC El Chup and Anna both think that because I try to advise my black students of the best way to get ahead in life and make a difference that I'm a racist because of the methods I advocate.

As for education. Perhaps we need to start a thread here where everyone lists their education background. I'll bet that I'm at least in the upper half.

The past was more sexist, more racist, more homophobic, more violent, medicine was worse, technology was clunky, more people died by war, marital rape was legal, rape was less reported because of victim blaming, child molestation was less reported, and when it was, it was hushed up more.

I mean, there's that old Louie C.K. joke that black people can't enjoy a time machine.
They get as far back as just the 60's, things start sucking hard.

The present is better than all that crap, and the future should be better.

That doesn't make one a bigot in their own mind. If one has reasons for having negative views of minority groups, well then that's just common sense, not hatred.

 

Nothing ever does. And that's the folly in the argument that we mustn't hurt the bigots' feelings by pointing any mistakes out to them.

 

Do you mind proving this? Most of them seemed primarily concerned about jobs and personal income to me. I have no doubt that being the nominal conservative candidate that meant more conservatives voted for him than the alternative but I doubt what you are saying is true. "Single best predictor"?

I am going to guess that even if you can come up with a link the methodology will be questionable and the actual study doesn't say what you claimed. This sounds like one of those I want it to be true so I will just keep repeating it type things.

Come to think of it, I think the single best predictor of a Trump supporter was their authoritarianism. I'm sure we had a thread on it.
