I found out, just a little while ago, that our member @Chardman had a heart attack and is on life support. I sincerely hope he pulls through, and that we don't lose yet another Wordforger to disease and death. His sister said that if he doesn't improve by Friday, he'll be taken off of life support, as he was without oxygen for 12 minutes before resuscitation was possible. If you could think a few positive thoughts for him, or say a prayer if you feel the need to do so, that would be appreciated.
He has told us he survived death once. He can do it again. He has been a worthy opponent. I will welcome his return to our little asylum.
Well, that sucks. Sorry to bring reality into this, but... well, I'll spoiler tag it: I didn't know it was possible for something to be in extremely poor taste and be a perfect tribute at the same time. Now I know differently. Someone needs to add some version of this image to the smileys as : chardman : immediately. And by someone, I mean @John .
Welcome to Wordforge. Either way, I won't worry about Chardman until gturner tells us he's going to be fine. As we all know....
Darn. I knew he was desperate to meet George Turner the paranormal ghost hunter, but he didn't need to go to this extreme.
Well, 12 minutes without oxygen to the brain is really bad. Like @Kommander said above, that's a long time to go without it, and it's sure to have caused significant damage.
There is an old saying, if you have nothing good to say then don't say anything at all. Your post already implies a negativity and was unnecessary
No, let it out. Chardman doesn't bother holding back, no reason you should. It's okay to share your feelings here. This is a safe, judgement free space, friend.
Are they saying his brain went that long without oxygen, or it was that long before paramedics showed up with oxygen? Not having someone putting an oxygen mask on your face is not remotely the same as not getting oxygen to your brain. We may be completely misconstruing the situation. It might be that he's going to be out for a day or so because of whatever they did in the ER, and his sister is just hoping to pull the plug on Friday so she can seize all his Star Trek action figures for herself. A lot of sisters are like that.
Ok, I'll be the asshole. He was/is a prick. I don't like him. If he dies, I don't give a shit. Good fucking riddance. I'm sure you all will say the same when I die, so, fuck him. fine.
How would they know that? Was that 12 minutes after he'd arrived in the ER? If anyone can pull through, it's Chardman. He's been through this before and his brain is well adapted to extremely low oxygen levels.
You didn't answer the fucking question. Was he without o2 for 12 minutes before the paramedics got there or was it 12 minutes before he received the o2 tank? These are two different things.
I'm not working with it. I'm keeping things upbeat, hopeful, and as lighthearted as can be maintained under the circumstances. If I was working with it I'd be making juvenile incest jokes about his sister wanting to pull his plug.
Thank you. Honestly. Why? See, Chardman himself once said this, about one of his online opponents: Now look at Federal Farmer. He's so chronically butthurt over things Chardman has posted in the past that he can't even be decent for a minute while the guy is on life support. Imagine the level of butthurt it takes to be that petty! I can't imagine anything that anyone here could say or do that would make Chardman smile more than that.
If it was five minutes, a full recovery would be likely. If it was 25 minutes, he most likely would not be coming back. 12 minutes, it could go either way. If he does live, there are going to be complications. He almost certainly has brain damage, and it probably isn't mild. Although, it really depends on what areas of the brain are damaged. He's most likely not coming out of this more or less the same as he was, but other than that anything could happen.
