Well. shit. In survival school we were taught the Rule of 3: 3 weeks without food, 3 days without water, 3 minutes without oxygen. :/
I asked the question because almost always the information coming through the people involved is fragmentary and often second or third hand. Minds are racing, people are rushing back and forth, and you don't know if some info comes from the surgeons (who can be wrong), or overheard from an EMT or nurse relaying second hand information to a doctor, or a family member's response to a question in all the confusion, panic, and shock. And then that can all get filtered in a telephone game. The same thing happens when the press leaps on an unfolding tragedy and nothing is getting verified. We will know when we know, and if Charman's sister is anything like he is, I wouldn't put too much weight on conclusion because it could be, to put it mildly, a less than definitive prognosis.
I have removed any personal or private information from his sister's public post on his page. Feel free to have all of the information I have: Oh, and once again as a reminder, this is the Green Room. If you've got a flame you want to let go against another poster, stow it.
So the heart attack was Sunday and he's been on life support ever since. I was thinking it happened this evening and the reports might be early and unreliable.
Certainly sounds like he's a gonna unfortunately, particularity since he's presumably been on life support constantly since the admittance. Damn shame. I don't wish ill of anyone here and those of us who have been around a while are part of each others lives, whether some like to admit it or not. I find it sad that people have already tried to use this as an excuse to demean the man and pursue petty point scoring efforts. We should rise above that at times like this.
Yeah, the people on the FB page have already started to say "he will be missed," and so on. I thought it was a bit presumptuous until I saw where she mentioned the part where they were disconnecting the life support tomorrow, and now I'm just really hoping things change for the better. It's a longshot, but I'm an optimist, and it can still happen.
I'll mark your passing however I suspect you'd have wanted me to. That's what I did with Sokar and Muad, that's what I'm doing now. Pro tip: When I die, I want a memorial thread full of pedophile jokes, "Ray" pictures, and the most morbid humour possible.
I always liked the guy and how he didn't let his disability define who he was. I really hope he pulls through because this place just wouldn't be the same without him. It is tragic how brief life can be. Pull through, big guy.
He had this problem once before (oxygen cut off for a period of time due to injury), I think 8-10 years ago, and it left him disabled. How does that complicate things?
I can usually find something positive to say about anyone. The only one I couldn't come up with anything positive for was Sokar.
No words to expand on previously expressed views. Whether he pulls through in whole or in part, or doesn't my sympathies are with those who love him.
He has mentioned it a few times and he left a hint in his about section of his profile. Don't break your vow Chardman.
Very sorry to hear this. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, or condolences to his family and friends should it come to that.
It is no secret that Chardman and I didn't get along. He obviously didn't like me and I did not like him. I didn't like the way he treated me specifically nor did I like his posting style in general. Overall I thought he added little or nothing to discussion here in any fashion. If it is possible to have enemies of strictly internet personas then he would probably be one of mine. Still, as far as I know, he never tried to cause me harm in real life. And I'm brought back to the movie "Troy" in the scene where after Achilles kills Hector, King Priam sneaks into the Greek camp to beg Achilles for his sons body. Achilles: "This changes nothing. I am still your enemy tomorrow." Priam: " And you are still my enemy tonight. But even enemies can show respect". Ultimately this is an internet discussion board based on a science fiction show that most of us have enjoyed at some point. We come here because we enjoy coming here for whatever reasons and whether we agree with each other or not, losses of regulars is a thing to be mourned.
Haven't been on facebook any more than I've been on here this week, so .., this is the first I'm hearing it. Thanks for sharing, John.
Fuck On the bright side, I'm sure that the question "what a classier? An autistic person or a kid?" has been answered in this thread would give him some pleasure.
