Psht. Luke Wilson is way-hay-hay better than Owen. I second Tex's Old School, and offer you I Huckabees, Legally Blonde, The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore. Owen, on the other hand..... [action=CheekyMonkey]shudders[/action] They were showing "You, Me & Dupree" on my in-flight movie, and i didn't even have the sound on, and it made me want to run to the front of the cabin and pry open the emergency door, in the hopes that i could be sucked out and incinerated by the jet engine so i wouldn't have to endure his dim, smug face, girlie haircut and COMPLETELY fucked up nose as he phoned in yet another sparkling performance as the lovable, quirky goofball with a totally laid-back California attitude. I mean seriously. Owen. You're a multi-gazillionaire, now. Do something about your nose. And grown men should not wear bangs.
Let's not forget Owen likes to stand on the sideline at t.u. games, that in and of itself is unforgiveable.
You're damn right on that. On the other hand, there is the performance by Owen in Life Aquatic, which happens to be another of my favorites and coincidentally by the same guy who did Tenenbaums.
Hansel, Zoolander, nuff said. Although Luke's performance in Old School is definately a plus in his column.
I'm actually a bigger fan of Owen. Some of you mentioned RT as evidence in favor of Luke. I also enjoyed Owen's part in that flick. And Hansel is pure greatness. See Also: Meet the Parents, Bottle Rocket, and Shanghai Noon. Yeah I know the last one isn't a very good movie, but Owen Wilson makes it watchable.
No one can deny Hansel's greatness, but Luke's roll in Idiocracy gives him the edge in recent years. Owen needs something new fast. 24 is on... more to come....
And a nose job. But they're both fine actors. Owen's been in a lot more stuff, and he's usually a little funnier.
Owen and Ben Stiller are a terrific team. Not one movie with both of them in it I don't enjoy (tho ZOOLANDER is a little too over the top). Luke is cool too. Why not like both for what they are?
I might actually pay to see a movie with Luke Wilson in it. I've seen a couple of films with him lately (Idiocracy, My Super Ex-Girlfriend) where, although the movies came up a bit short, I thought he acquitted himself well. I think he has an understated 'everyman' quality that makes him a likeable character even in mediocre films. Owen just annoys the hell out of me. Owen Wilson's presence in a movie is enough to make me avoid it like the plague.
To me, Owen Wilson seems like a very forgettable actor, in that, I forgot that he existed, and when reminded, I forgot what films he was in.
Speaking of Luke Wilson, the stallioness rented 'my super ex girlfriend' last night. It was a half decent film, not a keeper but good for a night. Luke Wilson was ok in it. I was left thinking though the film could have been so much better with Vince Vaugn playing lukes mate, he would be tailer made for that, and another decent name in as the villian.
As a friend of mine put it while discussing Luke Wilson in "Never Been Kissed": "He's so hot it's painful!" I concur. Owen Wilson makes me want to stab things. Thus, I vote Luke!
Well, to be perfectly honest, they both nail that "act" of being lost in a total fog. That's not a good thing, especially when that's every single one of your characters.
You kidding, guys like Bill Murray, Jack Nicholson, and Robin Williams have turned playing one character into great careers!
