They had Adama change his vote to show that he still loved Lee, which I thought was cheesy as hell. Not that he would still love his son, but the method. Adama was so hellbent that he called his son a liar and a coward to his face, but he's swayed by Lee's speech (which was pretty good, granted)? It doesn't wash.

What I fear is that by Lee getting back in the viper and Starbuck being back, any hope of him having a new storyline, being in the civilian government, in Laura's orbit, being a lawyer--anything--is gone. His balls will be back in Starbuck's pocket and he'll back down to daddy. When the writers actually give him something to do, Bamber's quite talented.

Actually, that speech should've been enough to sway Adama Sr., because if anything Bill Adama does know the truth when he sees it - and what Lee was saying WAS the truth.

2008? Why do TV series (network/producers) do this to their fans nowadays?

It's really tiresome. Seems like you get about 13 episodes of a show, per year anymore. :(

    Phantom, agreed.

I have to say I got chills when I saw the cut away from the fleets to the nebula to earth. Guess it's just me. :)

I give this one a 9.5 out of 10 - as long as two things happen - they explain the Earth music, which shouldn't be a stretch considering the entire premise of the show is finding Earth, and it turns out the 4 aren't Cylons, which I think is right anyway.

Personally I don't care whether they deal with Earth once they get there or not - it could be interesting, but it isn't a deal breaker to me. As long as they keep the quality of the show up.

That's one thing the 10 months does, it certainly gives them time to script out next season. Seasons 2 was hit or miss, season 3 was good for the most part except for the dreck in the middle with the romantic quadrangle.

At this point I don't care about a Lee-Kara relationship, because my primary objection to it was that Kara was such a complete psychotic bitch, and Lee should have known better. However, I expect that to change, as the ep in which she explored the relationship with her mother and why she was so keen to hurt people she cared about means she might be salvagable. The actress is good, she does a great job of making you hate her - and she did a great job being likable later on. The whole forgiveness and redemption aspect of Lee's speech could easily be applied to Kara - if she chooses to follow it.

Either way, I'm enjoying the primary story arc again and look forward to next season.

I'm going with some kind of brain implants or post-hypnotic suggestion they were all given in Cylon custody on New Caprica, activated either by a transmitter/relay/beacon in that nebula, or by the Six sitting in the brig. Not buying those four as Cylons after all this time.

I wanna see a near future Earth that's just become a part of the Galactic community...and the Cylons/Galactica are a ruse to get the Lords of Kobol strategic access to Earth because they're hated and despised by that same Galactic community for crimes of their past involving slave raiding.

What I'd expect from an Earth storyline would be Terrans who have more in common with the Cylons than the Colonials (one God) and who are going to get completely torn between their loyalty to their fellow humans and their religious affiliation with the Cylons.

I really hope they don't find earth. Then they very literally will not be going anywhere, and I don't think I care to see the gripping drama of a bunch of extra-planetary humans settling and integrating with the indigenous population.

    :dayton:

If they do find earth, it should be about 60 seconds before the Cylons nuke it into a brand new asteroid field.

Maybe the "plan" is to use the Galactica fleet to find Earth, destroy them right before they make contact, then show up and present the skin jobs as human so that they can interbreed on a mass scale and become closer to the "one true god."

The thing that nobody seems to be talking about is that being a "cylon" doesn't mean you're an evil robot.

Perhaps the five are meant to guide earth and aid humanity. I dunno.

A good writer could make it much, much more than that.

I can think of a couple of ways to make Earth the real enemy for both Colonial and Cylon...:tasvir:

I'd like to see the Cylons follow the colonials to Earth, pop out of FTL only to be wiped out of space by some vast and terrible weapon, and then have a voice-over by Adama say something like "the Thirteenth Tribe was more advanced than we had hoped" or some such.

Now, if, like me, you've noticed the trademarks on those cigars and cigarettes they smoke, the first thing that is gonna happen when they pop out of jump will be that a member of the Galactic Patrol takes the whole fleet into custody for being zwilniks.

Can't say I'm happy about this episode.

Yeah, Lee's speech was pretty good, but it really was more of a closing argument than a witness testimony. Maybe they should have had the lawyer actually get assassinated before the closing and have Lee forced to do it or something.

And count me among the people that call bullshit to the revelations at the end of the episode. Using a known Earth song is bad enough, but to have the characters speaking the lyrics while walking through the hallways was just plain embarrassing. Does anybody really think that those four were always meant to be cylons? Or you think that somebody more recently came up with the idea because it would be "shocking" and "cool". I think the latter.

Like I said, now I'm pissed off because I wanted to relive the show on DVD with my wife, but now I'm too embarrassed to get her to watch it only to be disappointed.

All I can say is that I hope they somehow make all of this make sense next season, but I have grave doubts.

They couldn't have always been meant to be cylons. Especially not Sam, for whom Sackhoff lobbied to be added as a permanent character.

It didn't fit. They ripped it straight from Men In Black.

Though it was pretty fast I didn't see any cities or signs of civilization.

Yeah. Maybe the 13th colony is a myth, or they never made it, the BSG fleet is destroyed, the cylons arrive to find an unpopulated world, and human civilization on earth was actually founded by cylon-human hybrids.

God, I really hope I'm not right about that.....

Just watched our DVR of it and I must say . . .

It was good. Lee's speech was inspired. But I don't for a minute believe the big revelation about the four others. I'm thinking brainwashed by the Cylons while on New Caprica. It's a dodge. How else to explain the Cylon fleet waiting for them in the nebula or else popping out as soon as they got there? AND just as Starbuck returns to the fold.

But the biggest bunch of bullshit about the whole deal is that the next season doesn't start until 2008!!! Is Sciffy trying to kill the show?

The silhouette we saw in a shot of the fleet was closest to the original Enterprise. :)

As for the song, it's a strange musical choice simply because it is a different style of music to what the song normally uses. It's not really an issue to me because I don't know the song, and I just assume that like many things in the show it is some Colonial song that is translated for the viewers benefit. Much like the million other things that reference our society language/culture/technology wise.

Because the music thing has been brought up again and again. This is a quote from Bear McCreary's blog:

Anyway ep was awesome as always. Naysayers just need to have a little faith in the writers.

I personally do believe they could be Cylons. After all, Six did say that they did have Cylons in so deep that they didn't know they were Cylons.

I also feel that the power outage was an effect of the Nebula itself, nothing that was technologically generated. If the Cylons had that capability the Galactica would be screwed because that would give the Cylons one hell of an advantage over them.

However, the earth song is very curious and I'd like to see how he explains that. If he goes the route of the way the Klingons were treated (Trials andTribble-ations), I'll be really peeved.

And I too want to see some interaction with earth before the series is complete.

I knew they were going to bring back Starbuck. You can't kill off a main character until their contract is canceled or they get out of the contract somehow.
