Regulations were different then as there were no regulations to prevent the captain from leading the away team. It was standard practice.
And AFAIK, not having seen TNG movies, every composer manages to work the original Alexander Courage theme in somewhere.
Well, different themes in each movie ensures that people will run out and buy the soundtracks. So, in essence, the answer is:
TNG is Star Trek Lite. Never warmed up to it. Saw every freakin' episode searching for *something*. Didn't find it until "Unification," and even that wasn't worth 6.5 years of watching Bland People Wearing Spandex and Traveling the Galaxy in a Flying First-Class Lounge on a Mapping Expedition. I accept it as part of the canon because it's necessary to keep it in the back of my head when I'm writing, but that doesn't obligate me to like it.
I wouldn't say frequently. I know it was used in TFF, I can't remember it being used in any other of the films. The TWOK theme per se was not exactly re-used in TSFS. It was more or less the same music but played with different instruments.
You know, I never put that together. Not that I thought Khan would know it, but the ordering everyone off the bridge. It only makes sense if he's discussing something with whatever they call top secret clearance.
^I've only seen TWOK about 1,000 times. Can still recite all the dialogue along with the actors. Yeah, I know, I'm a geek.
I liked it in it's original run. What can I say? I was a naive kid, I was seduced by the utopian sterility. DS9 fixed me. NuBSG is too far in the opposite extreme for me though.
Watching that scene again, a few comments come to mind: Overall, one of the Shat's best performances, IMO. A perfect portrayal of a calm, experienced leader saving his ship and crew. I loved Kirk putting on his glasses, which ( as we all know :herp: ) had been set up earlier in the movie. Very humanizing, IMO. "Time's up...Admiral." "Here it comes."
Adaptation: To be more precise, it was an example of Kirk getting out of a situation after he bent over in the prison shower to pick up the soap.
Except McCarthy (which is to say only Goldsmith as he did the rest). Generations had a unique soundtrack. Most of it was very TV-ish, but the Overture is a fantastic composition.
Yeah, I actually think she woulda dug First Contact. I mean, even though Strangers From The Sky was bigger & beefier....
Garamet, you have been judged by the Council of Trek. Mend your ways, or forever be lost to damnation with Scott Bakula!
