I was about a half hour away from you yesterday. We were visiting Portsmouth, NH and before we went home, we crossed over into Maine just so I could see a bit of it. (Didn't see much though in the grandfather of all rain storms.) It's FREEZING up here. How do you stand it?
I always thought the north was a whole lot colder than home, but then I never been that far north. Des
It's called layering -- just add more to stay warm. You can only take so much clothing off when it is hot.
The benefit of living in a very hot clime is blatantly obvious when one lives near a state university. The standard Co-Ed's dress code is a bikini top and daisy dukes.
Yeah, yeah, but keep in mind that I live in a town with 100,000 coeds, who basically are itching to take it all off come Spring.
I used to be that way when I was younger. Nowadays I think heat sucks. Anything over 80 and I'm not really digging it though when I was a youngin' 110 degrees was Ok.
I've been in California too long. 110 degrees barely makes me sweat. 70 or below, I start to shiver... Poor Tamar/Zel/Dicky would probably burst into flames as soon as they got off the plane at Sac International in July...
Sacromento is damn hot in July and August, damn hot! But it's actually not as bad as Boston in July and August. It's a myth that we don't suffer heat in the summer up North. We just don't suffer heat year round. That's the benefit.
I've finally gotten used to the humidity. It's a bit of a trick to not mind being soaking wet continuously for 10 weeks, but once your mind takes that leap, it's not so bad. You just have to unlearn all the childhood lessons about keeping your skin dry.
Bleah. Fifty years in NYC and I never got used to it. Out here I only need the a/c maybe ten days a year...
Some years I don't even turn on the A/C, though I do run it in my kids' bedrooms. My wife and I prefer the ceiling fan.
Yeah, but the amount of 20 year old skin I see May through September is greater than what you see all year. Plus, I get that whole winter of anticipation thing!
ASU has, what, 20,000 coeds? 20,000 half naked coeds per month, X 12 months, equals 120,000 tank top sitings over the year. oston colleges collectively have 100,000 coeds, x 5 months = 500,000 tank top sitings!
