I just found out yesterday that I am. This is all I need on top of my knee problems.

I've got the adult onset variety.

What are they gonna do to treat yours?

It runs in my family and I'm doing what I can to try to delay / prevent it.

My wife is. Don't know what type, but it's not the cut off your legs type as far as I know. She takes pills for it.

Ditch regular sodas. That was almost enough for me.

My dad is...it runs in his side of the family. I'm hypoglycemic and will probably develop diabetes later on.

Sorry, I've been waiting for an excuse to use that image. :o:

I'm not, but it runs in my family and I'm overweight with a nasty sugar habit. :(

Found out about 3 months ago.

Gave up soda for lent, lost over 30 pounds in 40 days.

Gave up all sugar (candy, ice cream, cake etc...) lost another 15 pounds.

I go back to the doctor next month for a check up

    I will keep you posted.

(My mother's brothers and sisters are dropping like flys from this ... they are in their 60/70's)

Father in law has just been diagnosed. Seems a bit odd, he's always been skinny...

It's not just weight. I knew a very slender guy who was insulin-dependent and had been all his life. Still, watching what you eat and staying fit will help slow it down.

Oh, I know that - but father in law has the adult onset type, and that is usually weight-related.

I am just having a big run of bad luck. My knee surgery that I had in February still has not given the proper result yet. I also had a shoulder surgery that seems to have recovered ok. This knee thing is driving me nuts. I end up standing on my good knee a lot until it starts to hurt because Iam favoring my bad one. God, I hope I get straightened out before I lose everything I own. Never been so down. Doctor gave me Zoloft, but I'm still not resting or sleeping good. Hopefully my new diet will cause weight loss and help the knees.

Actually, ep, the diabetes could have been delaying healing. Now that they know about it, and can treat it, your other problems might clear up faster.

Type 2, diagnosed earlier this year after a few of those disgusting glucose tolerance tests (lukewarm sugar water with citric acid in it? No thanks!).

I wouldn't mind, but we get through about 2lb of sugar a year in this house, avoid processed food, and eat what's considered a "healthy" diet.

I get the feeling that Zeus is having his revenge on me for mesmerising all the pretty girls.:(
