Dear friends, Please feel free to ask me questions concerning matters of import. I thank you for your kind indulgence. Sincerely, Excelsius
Anything relating to politics, Trek, and issues that may be reasonably considered interesting to virtually everyone on this board, other than those that I feel violate tenets of confidentiality or other vital concerns.
It's no more or less difficult than to maintain any other personality. However, I've posted on dozens of boards and my views really do not change. Nevertheless, this does not mean that I post the same things over and over. It would be rather boring if that were so. For example, I've posted on other boards regarding matters that have little to do with anything I've pontificated upon here. Nothing in the foregoing should be deemed to indicate that I have posted under any particular name.
When lubricating an AR... Light, moderate, or heavy? I lean towards moderate to heavy on the internals, but some disagree.
For as long as I can remember. I've always enjoyed the grand adventure of it all. But, even more, I came to love the humanism of all the various series, and especially that of the late Gene Roddenberry. There is nothing quite like Trek.
Some quick answers: 1. I am currently a student. 2. Yes, I was a member of the TrekBBS. 3. No, I am not Enterpriser. 4. I'm very disappointed in the new BSG.
What's your game, Enterpriser? My theory is that you're faking this idiot-lefty personality right now in an attempt to give yourself credibility among the Democrats, so that when you come out in favour of the Republican Presidential nominee in '08, you'll be able to play it up as a "Nixon goes to China" moment. Also, what are your thoughts on Babylon 5? I'm currently working through the series with my girlfriend.
Why is one item of underwear called a "pair"? I can see the point in the case of a bra, but why for panties?
Here are some quick answers, in no particular order: 1. No, I do not live in a basement. 2. Babylon 5 is an excellent series. The sophistication of its story-arcs is nearly peerless. While it's been years since I've seen it, I remember being very impressed by its manner and presentation. One of the most enjoyable features of that series was its seamless weaving of humor and tragedy; JMS had exactly the right touch to keep his audiences entertained as well as engrossed. I believe that DS9 was, either consciously or unconsciously, influenced by B5 and the increasingly involved method of storytelling it invoked. One of my favorite conceits was the knowledge that, in JMS's universe, humanity was quite far from the center of the universe, and yet nonetheless essential to its unfolding. Adding to the overall enjoyment of his series and movies, JMS was also well-known for his generous interaction with fans. See, for example: http://www.fsl.cs.sunysb.edu/pipermail/b5jms/1995-December/000224.html 3. One of my favor aphorisms from B5 was the saying: "Understanding is a three-edged sword." There is a little bit of Koshianism in all of us. 4. Dear friends, this is not about Enterpriser, and I cannot speak for him. 5. What are derided as "left-wing loony" beliefs, should not necessarily be seen as such. 6. Pants and related articles of clothing derive their characterization from the fact that a normal human being has two legs.
