Here is a letter that was sent to me from a buddy of mines. Note that these "statements" do not necessarily reflect my views or opinoins in any way. I just thought I'd post them here for the rest of you all to get a kick out of them :soholy:

I don't think he likes us very much!

Yet immigrants still risk and spend everything just to come here. Somebody needs to tell them!

He also happens to be right and makes some excellent points.

Our incarceration rate is atrocious, especially when you factor in all the non-violent drug related crimes that we lock people up for. If we decriminalized drugs we would empty half of the prisons right there.

American's are fat thanks to all the cheap crap that's readily available on every corner. Corporations like McDonalds are everywhere and do everything they can to make lots of money by forcing inexpensive shit on our citizens. It's more difficult and way more expensive to eat healthy in this country compared to just giving in to the corporate media blitz that convinces us to eat Papa John's pizzas or take the kids to McDonalds. Compare the number of commercials for pure shit that air every hour compared to healthy, natural food. People eat like shit because that's how corporate America has taught us to eat since childhood. And people wonder why America is so fat.

And while many countries have always hated us, we can definitely thank Bush (I refuse to call him Mr. President as he does NOT represent me or my views) for single-handedly destroying our reputation around the world and making us the single most hated country since ancient Rome.

But we do have one thing in common with many third-world shitholes -- we have a dominant religion that is actively doing everything possible to take control of the government and impose it's will on the entire country.

    God Bless America.

    Read my lips....BULL-MOTHER-FUCKING-SHIT

So you are telling me there exists a town in America where a bag of green vegetables, or fruit if you don't want to cook, costs more than a Happy Meal?

Also, Americans are hypnotized by advertising and forced to buy a product or service? Or does Ronald McDonald force us at gunpoint to supersize our fries?

BTW, America is also NUMBER ONE in air travel. Thankfully anyone can buy a one-way ticket out virtually any time they want to. :D

The United States is fine. People claiming otherwise have no sense of vision (or history).

    Twenty years from now, watch.

Zombie Ronald Reagan is about five minutes from going crazy up in this piece! Does Zombie Reagan need to choke a bitch?

I predict in about ten years America will reach the end of our rope, and another kick-ass leader like Reagan (knee deep in spirit and optimism) will put us assuredly aat the very top again! :)

Are we talking about the same Reagan that attended a 1985 Nazi reunion in Butsburg Germany, toured a old German military grave yard, and laid a reef on the tombs of several SS soldiers while offering his "condolences" to all of the survivors

Tempest in a teacup IMO. Let's put the visit in context:

    1. At the time we were enemies with the Soviet Union - Germany was a very important allie, and this was a reconcilliation and bonding between the USA and Germany. It showed in the "us versus them" game Germany was on our side. Apparently 70 percent of the Germans thought it was a good thing.

    2. Reagan (and by association America) is all about forgiveness, about being above pettiness. When Reagan was shot by Hinkley he wasn't vindictive....when he found out he had mental problems he didn't even blame him, and just wanted him to get the help he needed. :salute:

Pretty much the first part... The culture of consumption and keeping up with the Joneses keeps y'all coming back for more and more, even if you don't need or can't afford it.

Yes, we are hypnotized by advertizing. TV commercials DO work.

You think there is anyone left in America that has not heard of McDonalds??

But yet they advertize over and over.

Personally, I'm going insane over food commercials in general. How could anyone in the US lose weight AND watch TV?

By making a conscious choice. It's tough to stay focused on any goal, but this is the land of opportunity. You have the right to advertise and sell your own healthy food products if you want to.

You don;t believe in science, eh?!

Advertizing has an effect on people. And its hard to have a choice not to watch commercials.

Yes, we know you flick to another channel quick, lest you be influenced. But they are a large part of a 1 hour show.

And it's an effect that can be resisted. People who suffer from their own lack of willpower have only themselves to blame.

If it could be resisted so well they wouldn't spend billions on it.

Your comment on this is rather simpleminded.

Surely you're not so stupid as to claim that it can't be resisted?!?!

Oh, fuck off. I'm not holding anyone to a higher standard than I apply to myself. My comment might not help anyone feel better about themself, or do anything to jump on the "vilify big corporations" bandwagon, but it really is a simple matter. You either employ some basic self-discipline, or you fucking don't. Nobody can do it for you, nobody else is responsible when you fail, and if you do succeed at disciplining yourself, no amount of temptation through advertisement and availability will be enough to persuade you.

    Absolutely.

And those who say otherwise are simply blaming others for their own failings. They show their own lack of serious values, and thus deserve to have others take advantage of them. Call it a tax on weak will.

Unfortunantly it is a tax we all are forced to pay by higher insurance rates and medicare/medicaid taxes. :marathon:
