In a related, but less entertaining, topic, I mentioned earlier that al Qaeda has been forced to use women in their terrorist operations. Well now they're down to using Six-year olds. :garamet:

I was saying that the phrase "soldiers being soldiers" sounds like a cop out.
I have enough close friends in the service to know that it isn't for me. So I presume that means my opinion is completely invalid in your eyes, at least regarding these subjects.

I ws trying to say ... being in a mostly male environment, sometimes decorum goes out the window - especially if it's the first time out from under 'mom'. They have a tendency to be a little more 'colorful' - all in good humor of course. And the idea of teaching little boys to be 'colorful' is right up that alley.

My friend was an asshole going into the service, so naturally it didn't improve him for the better. Actually his current job allows him the opportunity to be an asshole to larger groups of people at a time- he is running the training gas chamber, and he plans to have his platoon take of their masks and do push ups while in there. He is a funny bastard when you aren't the butt of his jokes.

Everyone who goes through the gas chamber (basically, everyone entering the Army), has to remove their mask. Most men have said they've had to do push-ups while in there.

I have a smallish face and the mask I had was a 'medium'; and it was a hot day anyway, so my face was all sweaty. My mask never sealed. So, I spent 10 minutes in there with no protection.

It isn't nearly as big a deal as they make it out to be - well, at least not until you walk out into the fresh air. Then you want to puke.
