Germany have been very average for years now. I don't know which idiot made them favourite to win the tournament. Has anyone looked at their last 2 performances at the Euro championships? They never got out of the group stage! It shows up their overrated world cup performances too, especially in the last 2 world cups where they've had piss easy groups and knock-out stage opponents (except Argentina in the last world cup, whom the krauts were lucky to beat, in a penalty shootout, suprise, surprise. )
The Germans are crap and this defeat doesn't surprise me. Again they're very lucky that they have an easy group and are on the easy side of the draw, which should see them fluke their way to another final! :jayzus:

    IVOOOOOOOO!

I know the guy who shot our goal. He plays for my city's team. He's one sympathetic guy and I so wish that he beats the Krauts. Man, how long the team coach took to invite him into the team. How long he said that he was too old (at 38). Now he keeps our (slim) chances alive! Go Ivo!

I think you can now thank the whole of England for providing the ref :) :P

I think we should tar and feather him for missing the first occurance. Geez, I saw that and the camera was pretty far away. The ref was, like, three meters behind them.

This game shows that soccer is definitely a game of chance. I mean... we should have shot 3 in the first half. And who scores? The Poles at their only chance, by pure coincidence, from the offside which the ref missed yet again

Which, btw, is why the Germans are considered 'good': they have luck. Our boys can fight and run and pour their hearts into it and they'll still miss the goal from two meters away. The Germans can stand around for 90 minutes and usually, they'll score because the ball ricochets from somebody's leg.

Yeah Austria did deserve to be 2 or 3 up in the first half.
But at the time you got the penalty it did feel a bit lucky for your team :)
And yes, it was a penalty, but there are many incidents like that not given ever game :)

    Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How could this happen? How is this possible? the end of the world is at hand!!!!!!

Well actualy, Germany deserved to loose this one. They totaly forgot the release the hand break. Nothing worked, wrong passed, terrible mistakes in the defence (that first goal was so terrible...). Why was it tha they always had to way for the Croatians to stand right in front of the goal before they started to doing anything? Bah.

A least you can count on Poldy to shoot when somone manages o place the ball in front of him :P. "Hey Moan, Alta. gib mir de Ball hear, isch schiess den ei!"

Well, it was the hardest game in their group. They can catch up against Austria

Yeah, but they all had a bad day (Odonkor...). The only ones that mad a good impression (at least compared to the others) were Lahm and Schweinsteiger, until he got kicked out with that stupid foul. Deserved, in my opinion. Oh, and Poldy for that one goal, but that's about it.

As Sebastian Löw said, they can only do better now in the coming games...

The Germans will recover from this defeat, as always. After the victory over Poland, the Germans have become arrogant. After yesterdays shock, they are going to be more humble. I suppose the bastards will reach at least the semi final. However, vorwärts Österreich! It broke my heart when they failed to score during the first 20 minutes. How many chances do these guys need? :jayzus: The penalty at the end of the game was richly deserved.

Now I'm looking forward to Italy vs. Holland. Hupp Holland!

Didn't Italie get kicked 3 - 0 by Holland? What I want to see is Italy-France on tuesday :D. Although the French dont look good... But I'm still hoping!

I didn't see Austria-Poland. I heard Austria scored in the 93rd minute. That was close:shock:.

D'oh! Yeah, Italy vs. France is what I'm talking about. However, after my team is gone, I hope Holland will win the cup. The orange invasion we experienced in Berne was awesome! The Dutch definitely know how to celebrate their team. The Swedes were also very impressing, at least on TV. Yellow everywhere!

I'm confident that the Dutch will steamroller Les Bleus today. Go Oranjes!

In other news, I hooked up the computer with the USB TV thingy to the beamer in the media room. I expect... friends... over for the next two weeks

(Dont say "beamer" here. Too many english-speeking folks here :whew: . Only Germans and. Austians say that. It's like "handy" for cell phone... The first time I spoke of a beamer to an american he laughed me out :P)

Shit, I was supporting the underdogs. The Romanians were heroic! Now the Italians are trembling... Good! I never liked their defensive football.

Well... that wasn't horrible to watch, I guess :D
What is encouraging is that Marco van Basten keeps stressing how each game should be taken seriously, and instead of making claims for future games, he reminds us where things went wrong the last time. That, plus the fact he immediately made it clear he knows the Dutch team was lost for a while, esp. in the first half - there was a stage at which the French were clearly stronger.
But of course, a small victory party is allowed, tonight ;) It's not every day we beat the French 4-1

Indeed! Sometimes, this pseudo-English does get confusing. 'Projectors' are huge, expensive things found in cinemas, aren't they

Anyway, the Oranjes are IN THE ZONE! That was one superb game!

I'm very happy with the tournament so far. Yesterday, we have seen two awesome games. Compared to the more or less boring world championship two years ago at least. The spectators are excellent, and there is not much violence involved. Hupp Holland!
