Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Mugabe proud of having a knighthood? Given his animosity toward the UK in general, why was this?
WTF? What is the criteria for becoming a knight anyway? Do you have to be famous, or smart, or influential, or what? I'm just not getting the whole "knight" thing.
The official criteria is: Pre-eminent contribution in any field of activity, through: achievement or service to the community usually, but not exclusively, at national level; or in a capacity which will be recognised by peer groups as inspirational and significant nationally; and which demonstrates sustained commitment. http://www.honours.gov.uk/honours/types.aspx
Disappear? Shit, Mugabe is high comedy. He's a real life cautionary tale. "Hey Africa! Remember how you just had to overthrow the evil white colonials? Be careful what you wish for..."
Yep, I'd wager they may have buyer's remorse. To the article... No, we've all been aware of it for some time, but no one could be arsed to do anything plus you just saw an opportunity to hit the airwaves. Symbolism means shit to an evil asshat like this. If one third of the effort wasted on the BDS crap we've had to endure for years had been aimed towards getting this animal out of power we wouldn't be talking about this guy at all today but in rememberance.
Mugabe Striped of Knighthood It's true! He's actually quite happy about it, since it makes him look more African than ever!
