What did you think of McCain's speech?

I was surprised about the tone of this speech. Usually convention speeches are to rally the troops and hammer the opponents. McCain was pretty mellow. I liked his speech better than the other ones.

How did those protesters get in there? McCain handled it pretty well.

I still don't plan to vote for him, but the speech was better than expected.

To dull, was like watching brown speak.

I don't think he gave it all that well. His cadence seemed off until right near the end.

I found his speech to be severely lacking. But, that is what I think of McCain over all and his campaign overall.

The content was good, but the applause was throwing him off.

Am I a bad person for - when McCain was talking about bad teachers looking for another line of work - I immediately thought about Chuck?

He refused to let facts get in the way of his key points.

I think that type of a statement almost requires some elaboration.

I think they should get together and have a teach-off. Dayton gets baba and Chuck gets Startard.

It was ok. I know he is old but he always seems kinda stiff to me. Must be his injuries. I tend to talk with my hands and it seems weird when others don't do it as much.

The protesters were interesting though. Too bad they didn't get tased.

Of course he was pandering but I do like how he pointed out that Republicans had strayed from their roots. I was almost hoping he would bring up the Contract with America and how Republicans basically ignored it and became like democrats in terms of spending.

I'm pretty sure it would be Dayton. He has talked about killing in the past. Chuck seems....well like Chuck......

Agreed. I didn't even bother watching tonight....took a much needed nap! I'll probably watch it on youtube at some point.

Who is this 'McCain' everyone keeps talking about?

There were three they showed. The first one was wearing a Iraq Veterans against the War shirt and just held a sign. Then later they showed him holding his arms up.

The second one was some lady being rushed back up he stairs by security.

The third one was a lady in a business suit who exposed her pink top and was yelling. I'm thinking she was a member of Code Pink. Security got her too.

Every time you heard the crowd chant USA USA USA it was in response to the protesters.

But, basically, I'm referring to McCains "My opponent will do THIS" claims... when Obama has said nothing of the kind.

Around 9...45? I think? Central time, when McCain went on a long "I'll *blank*, but HE'LL *opposite*" is the main part I'm refering to.

Have a look through his recent thread history, and find the most insane couple and over the top ones you can from the last few months, then imagine that is all he posts, all the time and you will understand.
